Ok I just dealt with the Sharp customer support for this problem.

1) You need to unplug the TV for 1 full minute and remove the batteries from your remote aswell (this will reset the system)
2) Hold the power button on the remote for 30 seconds with the batteries still out of the remote and the TV still unplugged
3) After the 30 seconds replace batteries then press every button on the remote beginning with the power button in order from left to right and top to bottom (same way you read)
4) Then plug your tv back in and try the remote again.... and the remote and TV should be back in sync.

Or, how bout you just make certain that nothing is placed in front of the infrared sensor on you tv... Maybe someone should have suggested that before telling them to do all this voodoo nonsense!

After going out and buying a new universal controller since I thought my original controller had simply fried since it was older and then finding the new controller didn't work, I searched here to see if anyone else had this problem. I found this answer and IT WORKED! Since my new controller wasn't cheap, it's getting returned tomorrow... old controller is working great now! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!!!!

My sharp remote stopped working. the above methods didn't work for me. instead i managed to fix the issue by resetting the TV settings.
there are physical buttons on each TV on side. press menu and press down key and go to reset. at reset position press menu to reset the TV settings.

And wow the TV working again for the remote set.

Can't link my new lifestyle 48 remote control to my lifestyle 38 system?

If the remote does not work as you expect
If your system does not respond when you press a button on the remote, it could be time to
change batteries. For information on the type of batteries to use and how to change them,
refer to "Replacing the remote control batteries" on page 51
In some buildings, you may experience "dead spots" where the remote control will not
operate effectively. If this happens, move the remote a foot or two and try again. Also make
sure the cord that connects the power supply to the media center (and contains the remote
antenna) is stretched to its full length and is separated from other power cords. If these
efforts do not work, move the media center a few feet to a location where it provides a better
response.
If the batteries are fine and the suggestions concerning "dead spots," above do not work,
you may need an antenna extender. To contact Bose

customer service to request one, refer
to the address list included with the system.

Remote stopped working

clean the circuit board on the remote moisture might be the problem

The remote control has simply stopped working! The batteries have been changed! Nothing on the remote is accepted by the TV. There is no response, not even a flicker from the TV.

Hi there,

Try resetting your remote:

* Remove batteries
* Press each button on your remote, twice. (one button at a time). This should discharge any current left in the capacitors.
* Insert fresh batteries.

If the above fails, then your remote is faulty.

No response when remote control buttons are pressed.. I put new batteries. but not work..

Does the unit work from its onboard controls or is this only a remote control failure?
If the latter...

Try this advice:

"Dead" Remotes Can Be Saved
How to Re-Start Your "Dead" Remote Control
This only takes about a minute and will restart 1 in 3 "Dead" Original Remote Controls. Good Luck!
-----------------------------
Step 1- Pull the batteries out of the remote and leave them out until Step 4.
Step 2- Press and release each and every button one at a time on the remote control until every button has been pressed and released at least once!
Step 3- If your remote has slide switches, you must move the switch to each position then repeat the button pushing in Step 2.
(When you're done, be sure to put the slide switch in the correct position to operate the unit the remote came with!)
Step 4- Put the batteries back into the remote, being very careful to install them correctly.
New batteries should be used if you're not sure about the old ones.
Step 5- Try the remote.
Special Note:
If you have a digital camera, camcorder or camera phone you can test the remote to see if it is emitting a signal. Face the remote towards the lens of the digital unit until you can see the front of the remote. Depress any button on the remote. You should see a light (steady, blink or flashing) being emitted from the remote. If you do then the problem might not be the remote but the sensor on the unit.
If it works, Great!
If not, it's time to call 1-800-Remotes or use this website to order a new remote.
Find new or replacement remotes:
http://remotes.com/store/codes_original.html
or eBay: search for "(model) remotes", check the 'include description' box. Usually cheaper than the vendors.
