I am trying to upgrade to a 1tb SATA HDD on my Dell Optiplex GX270. It does not recognise my new drive in my BIOS, I have updated BIOS to A07. Am I missing something? Is it compatable with SATA?

I have the same model PC with a 250gig Sata HDD and dont have any problems. If a PC can read 250g it should be able to read 1000g. This may sound silly but is Sata turned on in Bios

Encountering the Error STOP 0x0000007B when Installing Windows XP on Optiplex gx270. Error occurs when Setup starts loading Windows Setup Files.

That error is a boot device error and you need to check the BIOS to see what is listed for hard drives and other devices and see if AHCI is enabled etc.

SATA Hard Drive Type The Dell Optiplex GX280 Takes?

Hi,

It makes no difference providing the computer motherboards support SATA interface.

SATA 1 and 2 drivers are in the BIOS. If all the computers have SATA 1 you can upgrade the BIOS to latest version via Dell's support website.

Can gx270 use SATA internal hard drive ?

Hi,
1. You can refer to your device motherboard user manual to find it our if the SATA HDD is supported or not.
2. If you dont have motherboard manual, just remove the screws behind your computer and remove the cabinet side cover and look onto the motherboard inside it. If you find SATA slots, then you can use SATA HDDs in your machine.

3. If there is no SATA slots in your motherboard, you can still use a SATA HDD to your system by getting a PCI to SATA convertor card.

I Hope this is helpful to you
Thanks
