Radio works but the clock/channel does not light up.

Hi I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the infinity cd radio. I hav not tried the cd player but I know that the radio works fine FM only AM does not work. The LED light does not light up. All of the buttons light up when I put on the lights. I am so confused. Any help is grately appreciated. If I need a new radio does anyone have any reccomendations on were to buy one?

THANKS!

My clock display went out on my infinity radio for a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The radio/cd player work fine.

I haven't torn into it to figure out where power for the display comes from.

The display goes out due to heat causing a surface mount resistor to lift off the top circuit board in the upper left part of the board.
I replaced mine with a radial lead resistor raised above the board, and the display has been working since 2012. Can't remember if it was a 15 Ohm or 15k Ohm resistor that I pulled from an old scrap TV board.
There is a YouTube video with the fix and correct resistor.

It sounds like the radio is defective, but check the fuses that power it 1st, if they are all ok then you can get a used working radio on Ebay, have bought them there myself with no problems, cost was reasonable.

I have power to my factory head unit but there is no sound from the speakers (1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, Infiniti Gold system)

I have the 1995 version and have had the same problem. For some reason, I would be driving down the road and then all of a sudden the sound would cut off. No indications on the radio. For the longest time I drove around without music, then one day I turn the volume up and it worked fine, the unit was resetting itself to the lowest volume setting for some reason.

I pulled the unit, cleaned and tightened all connectors; opened the radio up and resoldered the connection on the power board; and cleaned the connection to the antenna. I don't know which item fixed the problem because I did them all at the same time, but it worked, and so far the problem hasn't returned.

Welcome to FixYa!

The Radio was manufactured by "INFINITY by Harman".
There were a lot of variations used in the Jeep Grand Cherokee series including the limited edition (1999-2004).

Get in with INFINITY to get the exact model number.

Electrical Problem in 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited

You co0uld change the module but I don't know the exact location of yours (under the dash) If I was working on it and couldn't get a location, Id take a look at one from a parts house so I had an idea what I was looking for, then start looking. They aren't cheap though so sometimes it's best to have a good shop look it over just to make sure it will fix the problem.
When working, I test everything either with meters, scanners etc or use known good units to check problems. Here, I can only make educated guesses. Electrical parts are generally non-returnable so mistakes can be costly.
Good luck though.

Radio replacement

alot of the radio will interchange the best way to know is to check the connectors on back of both radio's. they also sell connectors witch allows you to switch them.
