SOURCE: LiDE 600DF - Unable to scan

I think I might have solved my own problem, at least for the time being. If my theory is correct, then it might be a permanent solution.

I had been goint through the "CanoScan Toolbox 5" configuration line by line to see if anything would suggest a solution when I noticed that the "Folder for where temporary files are stored" had an enormously long path of C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Canon\TB50\...... By the time the temporary filename is added to the end, it may have exceeded the permissible length the system can handle. So I changed it to C:\Temp and it all started to work for me.

Worth a try for my fellow sufferers.

SOURCE: LiDE 600DF - Unable to scan

Hi Peter

Have had the same problem, seems to come and go a bit... Quickest & easiest fix is to go to CanoScan toolboox > Settings then press the 'defauls' button at bottom... this sets everything back to factory settings and should fix your problem. Cheers.

SOURCE: I CAN'T TURN ON MY SCANNER

Have you unlocked it with the button on the back?
Thre is no ON button. You just choose which function you want and press the button for it, or bring up the CanoScan toolbox on your screen and select it from there.

Needs canoscan drivers

Drivers are specific to the operating system (ie drivers for Windows XP may or may not work with Vista). Click on the link below and you will be navigated to the Canon driver download page. Choose your operating system (OS) from the drop-down menu, your preferred language and you will be ready to download the drivers.

Is there a manual that shows how to scan slides

Hello,

Here is the support site for your scanner:

Canon LiDE 600F Support

Under the Drivers & Downloads there are a couple manuals. The Quick Start Guide, which is a PDF file and the On Screen manual which is an exe file. The PDF will open right up. The other you will need to download the file to your desktop and when the download completes you need to run (double-click) the file to install it.

Note: This scanner does not support scanning of Mounted slides. (See Footnote #5 on Page 9 of the Quick Start Guide.)

You may be able to unmount the slides carefully and follow the instructions for scanning film. You might try that on a less desirable slide before unmounting them all. Just a suggestion.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Light stripe on scans

Possible causes, CCD failure, smudges or marks that can only be picked up by the CCD if the underside of the scanner glass is dirty. Uninstalling/reinstalling your scanner driver will eliminate if its software related or not. From the looks of it, could be with the CCD if the lines are in the same area with every scan attempted.
