I have a very peculiar problem. I'll break it down in steps. 1. I had a Directv Remote the installer programed successfully to my Marantz reciever. 2. The remote's number "1" key stopped working because something was spilled on it. 3. I ordered a replacement remote from Directv. 4. I programmed the new remote to work with my Marantz receiver and tried ALL the codes but I could only get the power to function correctly. The volume and mute will not program no matter how hard I try. 5. I thought to myself that perhaps the new remote was defective so I ordered a replacement remote. Same problem no volume or mute. 6. I decided to reset my old remote (had volume and mute working) to factory defaults to see if I could REprogram the volume and mute successfully. I cannot get this remote to control volume now even though earlier tonight it did. 7. I have been following the onscreen directions... When in AV1 I press the mute and select keys until it blinks twice and enter a code for Marantz (3 work but still not volume.) When I successfully have the power on/off working I then press the mute and select keys until it blinks twice and then I press 993 then I press select. I cannot get the volume and mute keys to work on either remote even though 1 was working earlier tonight and for the last year. Any ideas?
Did you try all the codes listed. Some work certain functions such as power but not volume. Did the installer leave a phone number where he could be reached other than directv toll free number? Did you receive the same remote as the original. Directv has two remote that are identical in appearance but one is rf capable and the other is infared. The RF remote has backlit keys and is compatible with just about any device.
The AV1 and AV2 switch position can be used to program a
VCR, DVD, STEREO, 2nd DIRECTV Receiver or 2nd TV with
the following instructions.
1. Turn on the component (e.g. DVD Player) you wish to
program.
3. Move the slide switch under the AV1 (or AV2) icon.
4. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys at the same
time until the green light under AV1 (or AV2) flashes
twice and then release both keys.
5. Using the number keys enter the 5-digit code for your
brand of component being programmed. If performed
correctly the green light under TV will flash twice.
6. Aim the remote at your component and press the power
key once. The component should turn off. If it does not
turn off, repeat steps 3 and 4 trying each code for your
brand until you find the correct code.
7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 to program a new component
under AV2 (or AV1).
