First thing to look at is the battery. First indication of a dead battery or nearly dead is the light no longer works. And actually if anything else is wrong it is time for a new watch as Timex watches are not repairable.First thing to look at is the battery. To set the time and date on your Timex Indiglo watch with a CR2016 battery, follow these steps:
Press and hold the stem (the button on the side of the watch) until the display begins to flash.
Use the stem to cycle through the different settings: time, day, date, and year.
When you reach the setting you want to change, use the stem to adjust the value.
Once you have set the time, day, date, and year to the correct values, press the stem to exit the setting mode.
If you have trouble setting the time and date on your watch, you may want to consult the manual that came with the watch for more detailed instructions. If you do not have the manual, you may be able to find a copy online or you can try contacting Timex customer service for assistance.
Depending on when you bought your Timex, you shouldn"t need a battery just yet, your Timex came with a good battery. Look under the stem (winder) for a small piece of plastic that is not allowing the stem to go all the way down, remove that piece of plastic and push the stem down and your Timex will start. Or if your Timex has buttons, look for a tab of plastic on the back cover, this tab of plastic is keeping the battery from (ground) a complete circuit remove this tab of plastic to start your Timex. Changeing the battery while fairly easy, you"d need jewelers screwdrivers and of course the new battery, Best Bet, look for a small watch repair shop in your area for the battery change.
mcdevito75 here, Your Timex watch is most likely an Indiglo meaning light, The battery supplies power to to Quatz mechanism for time keeping and for the light. There is a very good possibility that 1 or 2 of the contacts between the battery and the Quatrz mechanism were lost during the new battery installation. While you can"t rule out that the Quartz mechanism and or the light may be wearing down, you still have to suspect the battery even a new battery, look for a small watch repair shop in your area and try another battery, let the jewler know of your watches problem so he / she can properly install the battery and ensure the contacts between the Quartz and the battery are being made.
Definitely, battery change will solve the Indiglo light problem. Many of wristwatches has separate battery for Indiglo function, but my advise is to change them both at once - will be cheaper for you.
There is no separate battery for the indiglo, maybe indiglo circuit is lose or defected already, just open the watch and check for lose connection. If happen the circuit is tight and still not working then replace the indiglo circuit.
The indiglo technology is time limited (it dims over the years with use) and cannot be repaired - have you had the watch a long time? if so, I'm afraid it's time to get a new one. Sorry!
check to make sure the button is making contact with the circuit board. It may need to be adjusted. Try and manually make contact with the copper contact. If it lights, then just adjust the tab.
