Yes it does. It is a snug fit on the blade shaft, if you mean the tall shaft that powers the shredder discs? The short one that holds the cutting blade is not removable.
Are you talking about the "disc stem" that holds the grater disc on? I need one too -- mine cracked down the middle. I LOVE this food processor and hate to get rid of it because of this one problem.
Without careful use and care, there is a possibility that the disc stem can become fused with the motor shaft. If excess pressure is being applied to the slicing or shredding disc, this can cause immense friction and cause the plastic disc stem to "weld" onto the motor base itself.
I would suggest calling Kitchenaid Customer Service to see what options are available.
Hey I had the same problem. This may sound primitive and stupid but it worked. Give the stem a good whack with a wooden spoon all the way around, it will come off.
There is no mechanism to lock the stem onto the base of the KFP750. It's just held on by gravity, so you're not missing anything simple!
It's possible that the soap dust got in there and glued in on. Take a blow dryer or very hot rag (use tongs!) to the stem to see if you can soften the soap, then pull up the stem.
