That's a tricky one. I make no guarantees, but check out the Playstation 3 Safe Mode.

I would start with option 2 (Restore Default Settings). Apparently this guarantees it will preserve your information and attempt to fix the PS3.

If it doesn't work, move on to option 3 (Restore File System). This one makes no guarantees; you might lose your information, but hey you might fix the problem and still have your info!

---Everything after this point wont' save your information---

Finally, there's options 4 (Rebuild Database) and 5 (Restore PS3 System). These delete everything, but you should be able to get your hard drive back to working condition.

But if for some reason it doesn't go back to working, you could just replace the hard drive. The PS3 uses standard 2.5inch SATA laptop/notebook hard drives (5400 or 7200 RPM). They can be found online at any computer parts website; for example, Tigerdirect.

Alternatively,
you could send the PS3 back to Sony. If you're under warranty it's free; otherwise it's expensive (150$ I believe). They won't save your information, but they will get your PS3 working again.

Just so you know, anything you purchased on the PSN store (DLC/games) can be re-downloaded for free. All your trophies are saved online too (assuming you synced it). You'll just lose local content (game saves/data, pictures, videos).

Hope you can salvage it; good luck!

When I deleted home on my pS3 I got corrupt files

  1. Insert the PlayStation 3 memory card that has the corrupt file into the memory card slot of your PlayStation 3 console.
  2. Step 2 Turn on the PlayStation 3 without a disc in the console or with the loading lid open. A menu screen will then appear on your television.
  3. Step 3 Scroll through the options of the main menu using the down button on your directional pad and press the "X" button when you get to the "Browser" option.
  4. Step 4 Click on the icon that shows the memory card that you inserted by pressing the "X" button. You will now be able to view all of your memory card files. Locate the corrupt file and click on it with your "X" button.
  5. Step 5 Scroll through the list of options that appear and select the "Delete" option by pressing your "X" button. The file should now be deleted. Restart the PlayStation 3 and go back to your memory card to make sure the file was deleted.   NOTE WITH THIS IT WORK PROPERLY....

My ps3 is freezing, is there anything i can do at home to fix this

Yes! You MAY BE able to fix your ps3's problem at home if you follow this guide. You need to RESTORE SYSTEM FILES of your ps3 to correct corrupt data that causes the freezing.

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} HOW TO GO TO THE RECOVERY MENU OF PS3 SYSTEM

1. Make sure the ps3 is plugged in (stand by mode).
2. Put out your usb cable for the controller and the controller itself (do not connect yet).
3. Hold down power firmly, ps3 will turn on and then turn off, release power button when t turns off.
4. Hold down power again, you will hear a beep and then a double beep, when you hear that double beep release the power button.
5. Now you should be seeing something in your monitor that say "Connect usb controller", do just that.
6. After connecting the controller press PS button.
7. You are now in the recovery menu.
8. To fix the problem of corrupt data you can choose #3.
9. If you want to format your hard drive choose #5. Be aware that this option will delete everything that is in your hard drive.
10. Remember that doing #3 and #5 is not 100% to fix the problem of corrupt data, I say about 70%.

Good luck!

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 for PS3. Getting

if you have a usb flash drive.
copy your game save files to it and delete the whole game including the saved games.

re-install and you should still have your saved game on the usb stick

copy this over and it should work.

if its the game save itself that is corrupted, then i'm afraid you have to start the game over again

Search 'how to copy ps3 game saves' and you'll find plenty of good step by step instuctions

Restoring files after using the Backup utility.

1. Plug in the USB drive that contains the data.
2. On the XMB go to Settings then System Settings
3. Go to Back Up Utility like before but
4. Choose Restore rather than Back Up
5. The PS3 does the rest

You can have the PS3 delete the data file from the USB drive by choosing Delete Backup Data.
