The motor is AC (alternating current) and only runs in one direction. Therefore, the only way to reverse the saw blade direction is to flip the position of the motor 180 degrees. The teeth of the blade should be pointing down and face to the left when you are standing in front of the saw. The blade should travel down into the table so the blade pushes the work into the table. I hope this helps since it sounds like the blade may be installed incorrectly.

How do you remove the upper wheel on a craftsman 12 inch bandsaw

Check with bandsawmanuals.com if they have the manual for your band saw. You might want to try these steps. First, you need to unplug the saw and remove the band. Then remove the outside snap ring.
I am not sure but you might have to remove the self locking screw in the shaft.
Once the snap ring is removed, you should be able to remove the wheel and the outer bearing.
Then remove the back bearing from the shaft. Next, install the bearings in the reverse order.

Sounds like something's bent. You might need some replacement parts. 14" band saws, regardless of brand, are generally made with Chinese parts that are knockoff Delta-Rockwell parts from many years ago. Grizzly sells most of these parts at reasonable prices. Check the exploded views of their saws to see if the parts match. Craftsman parts are expensive, even though they're the same part.

Check this blog first. Are you installing a new blade? If the blade is running backwards, you just have to reverse it, turn inside out. Try watching the Alex Snodgrass' Youtube video Band Saw Tune Up .

I would bet it's the Motor Brushes. They are locaded on the housing of the saw, accesed by unscrewing the plug. The brushes are replaceable and your saw will be fixed.Where to buy replacents could be an issue,Check manufacturer or search power tool replacement motor brushes. If stuck you can try to unscrew the plug the brush is at the bottom engaging the motor armerure, there shoud be a spring keeping contact.Inspect brush condition it looks like a carbon block worn to the curve of the motor.Go online do a search on how electric motors work you'll see exactly what I'm explaining.Cheap part easy fix.Good Luck.

Help with my dw100 band saw

Pull the plug on the saw, take off the covers on the upper and lower wheels of the saw.

You will see an adjustment bolt above the upper wheel and below the lower wheel, with the band saw in place on both wheels turn the upper wheel by hand, if the band saw moves to either side of the wheel use the adjustment bolts to center the band saw.

Porta Band saw blade jumps off

I had this problem on a used model 725 that I bought. Apparently the rubber tires on the drive wheels develop a bit of a memory after sitting for a while with tension on the blade. I tried cleaning the tires to no avail. Then I removed both tires, flipped them over and re-installed. Still not fixed. Then I put only one back to the original position and the problem was solved. Other than the frustration of trying several times, I was out nothing and I got quite proficient at taking the blade in and out. The saw has worked fine ever since. I hope this simple (and free) solution works for you.
