My Philips 32' LCD is 2 years old and the picture is now distored. The picture appears to have no black in it or it is like you are looking through a heat sensored lens. I have checked the cables and all the connections are good. On two occasions it swaped back to normal and then a few minutes later it returns to the wierd no black screen. What is wrong with this TV?

I ran into this problem with a VIZIO TV. I had to change the main display board. It is the board that all the components hook up to (example HDMI, coaxial cable, any input to the TV will be on this board) . Hope this helps you

46in Vizio LCD HDTV distorted black picture when tv is turned on

Hi There are three things that can cause this problem. Your lcd screen, t-con board or the signal board. Most likelly in your case since you say it's only half the screen it's going to be your t-con board. You can try removing it and cleaning all the contacts and replacing it see if that helps. If that doesn't help then replace it. If that does not solve it then it's going to be your screen.

I bought a phillips 32 flat screen 5month ago,and it has gone wrong,it works for 20 mins then the picture goes off the sound stays on

Tv is less than a year old call Phillips for warrenty repair. This tv have a 1 or 2 long boards, call the LCD inverter boards,it have problems, about to died. These 1 or 2 long LCD inverter boards are to help the LCD screen to have a backlight to produced a picture. That why u have dead pictures, but still have sound.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy those 1 or 2 long LCD inverter boards for the replacement.

Tv takes 1/2 an hour for picture to appear

It can be that the 24vdc supply is dying due to bad DC filter caps, that will be the fist place to look, if he 24vdc is OK, then the next part to look will be the backligh inverter board, verufy hat it does have 24vdc and the 'BL ON' (Backligh On) signal is present.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:

Lost the picture and screen is black. Try pressing menu but does not appear, there is sound but no picture at all. this happend from turbning off one night to the next day when turning on. The TV is 2...

It is not used everyday but he power supply is running 24/7.
There two possibilties:
1) There is no 24vdc from power supply module for feeding the backlight inverter board, look for bad caps with elaking./bulging top.
2) Inverter board is bad, blown fuses, transistors, etc.

Picture blacks out after a few seconds after turning on the tv

Anytime an LCD has a shade of pink, that means the CCFL lamps are about to go out. Now that you have a black screen, I'd say you just need some new bulbs.
