Both of our garage door openers stopped working at the same time...sort of. If I hold an opener close to the antennea it will operate the garage door, however it will not work more than five feet away and doesn't work at all outside the garage. We've replaced both batteries in the remotes with no success. We have a Craftsman 1/2 horsepower Model # 139.53664SRT2. Hope you can help.
I recently had Verizon FIOS equipment installed in my garage (for phone, internet and TV), which is plugged into a 110 volt electrical outlet. Thinking this equipment might be causing some RF interference, I unplugged the FIOS equipment, and both garage door openers immediately worked perfectly again!
After reconnecting the FIOS equipment, I then plugged the garage door opener into a different electrical outlet approximately 15 ft. away via an extension cord, and the openers continue to work fine. Fingers crossed, I hope the issue is permanently resolved.
I had the same problem and confirmed that turning off the FIOS ONT made the garage door opener work again. I came up with a low-tech, low-cost solution: get a cardboard box that's big enough to COMPLETELY cover the ONT; cover it inside and out with tin foil; ground the foil to a nearby outlet or other ground. My garage door opener now works as before from 30' or more away...
All three of my garage door openers died on the same day. Only the wall pad works. Nothing has changed in the garage so I suppose it's the planned obsolescence of the remote. Guess buying a couple new ones is the answer. Good luck folks.
Hello everyone. I was having the same problem. I taped the antenna in place so it was in view of my car whenever I pull into the garage. My antenna wire is purple. It worked for me!!

both our remotes stopped working at the same time. changed batteries still don't work. but the keyless entry pad works fine. what's going on?
I have exactly the same problem with my Liftmaster garage door opener. Until a few days ago, both remotes worked fine. I've installed new batteries and erased the codes and reprogramed the remotes several times, to no avail. Unless there is some kind of electrical interference that is affecting so many of these openers all at once, I am completely at a loss as to what is causing this. I'm wondering if the receiver/logic board in the opener unit might be the problem, but I do not know how to diagnose that. Any ideas or help from anyone out there would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
sears garage door opener motor works fine remote's won't work unit
any ideas
Both remotes do not work. The button inside the garage opens and closes the door just fine. The light blinks twice when I push either remote.
Any suggestions?
okay this is freaky-my remotes stopped working also? only wall panel works-pain in the **** to walk into garage to get doors to open and closed..
This same problem started (for me) 10/3/08. Remotes only work within 5 ft of opener. Keyless does not work unless within 5 ft.
My wife and I have been having the same problem all year. Our remotes will only work a few feet from the garage door or inside. A few weeks later, they work all the way from the street. The problem started again this weekend.
I have been researching RF interference; but haven't found anything solid yet. It is the only thing that make any sense.
All remotes (3) and both cars have instantly stopped working. Â Nothing new in our garage or house to effect. Â Any ideas?Â
I have the same problem. All my remotes stop working all in a sudden. After reset the opener, the remotes will only work a feet away from the opener. If you have a solution, please post on this site. Thanks
I have a Sears Craftsman Garage Door Opener, Model# 139.53985D. Two months ago , both remotes stopped working unless you are about 5 ft. away. Replaced both batteries and tried reprogramming both remotes, did not correct problem. I suspect it is a receiver problem in the circuit board, but not sure how to diagnose it properly, any insight or help would be greatly appreciated.
