I bought a Vermont Casting Radiance Model 2240 Gas Stove 10 years ago. The fan makes a horrible noise. I have a manual, but the fan page says the fan is optional and page 1 is missing. Also page 2 is faded out and I cannot read it. How do I get the fan off to find out the problem? Is there a manual that explains it or can you tell me? Bernard Whaley 585-457-9905 [email protected]

Finding an match to your Owners Manual is difficult at best. As, Vermont Castings has gone through 2 different corporate ownerships in 10 years. However, for the most part, their castings and the mechanics for the Radiance model have pretty much stayed the same. This gas stove was manufactured in a Vented and a more efficient Vent-Free model. The installation of the fan was different for each model. Since you didn't specify whether you have a Vented or Vent-free model have included the Owners Manual for both. Keep in mind, these manuals are for the stoves that currently being produced, but the installation is very similar. You will be removing the blower rather than installing it, so do everything in reverse.

If you need to replace the blower, you can purchase one from an authorized VC dealer in your area. To find one go to http://www.vermontcastings.com/contact.asp

Mr. Whaley, I hope this helps solve your problem.

Testimonial: "You solved my problem! The diagram shows exactly how to get to the fan. I had looked for an hour for such a diagram. (My stove is vented.)"

I have a Vermont Casting radiance model 2240. It looks fantastic and I do not want to replace it. I had a stove company over to service it and get it started for this coming winter and they told me that...

Before you give up i would check with different companies. there just could be one out there that has access to the part you need. I did that with an older car that they said we could not get parts but by shopping around we found a part. I found after so long they do not supply parts any more.

Where can I get a manual for a vermont casting 1982 intrepid 1 non catalytic woodstove?

Since Vermont Castings has gone through 3 different ownerships in the past 10 years, the chances of finding the manual, for your discontinued model are slim and none. Having been a VC dealer up until 5 or 6 years ago, my data base is pretty complete. However, the Model 1982 Intrepid I Non-catalytic Wood Burning Stove doesn't even show up there. If the dealer you purchased you stove from is still in business & is still a VC Dealer, that would be the best place to start. As, his records would go back further than mine. But, I must caution you, many dealer like myself, dropped the Vermont Castings line, during the last part of it's Ownership, by Majestic Fireplace Corp. VC is now owned my Monessen Hearth Hearth Systems.

Hope this helped you some.

Find spare and repair manual for intrepid wood stove

Alex, I don't know how old your Vermont Castings Intrepid wood stove is, but the only available Owner's Manual is for their fairly new model Intrepid II wood stove.

A little quick history. Vermont Castings was an independent company 10 years ago, that was bought up by Majestic (FMC) Fireplace Company of Canada. About 5 years ago, Majestic went belly up and the VC line was purchased by Monesson Hearth Products. There have been some improvements to their wood stoves in the past couple of years, so as to meet the new EPA Requirements. So, this manual may show some things your stove doesn't have.

Hope this helps you. Please let me know. Thanks.

Vermont Casting Radiance Gas Stove (RUVSOD) NG to Propane (LP)

Unfortunaletly, due to the delicate nature of vent-free appliances, you'll find that most are not field convertable. If the vent free appliance were to lose its efficiency, you would be subjected to high levels of CO, carbon monoxide, and could likely die. Therefore, field conversion is not recommended and in this case, not possible. Vermont Castings does not provide parts to convert and if they did you would be essentially replacing the entire unit short of the outer cast shell. I wish you luck.
