Well,i put my archos on to listen to music and it is saying warning no file when i have about 52 songs on there and when i go to the file on my pc it has a black box on my music file when i click on it,its got location not available,music is not accessible and the file name directory name, or volume lable syntax is incorrect.

Ahh... I have that problem. The file may be zipped or unsupported. Either way, it's probably not going to work.

Deleting Files,Pictures,Videos,Audio Books, Apps,etc. from MP3 Player/Ipod/Archos,etc.

Hook up your mp3 player to your computer
Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer"
When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there.
Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible.
Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release,right click and then click on "Delete"
Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want.
ONE MORE BIG WARNING: BE CAREFUL AND DO NOT DELETE THE FILES NEEDED TO OPERATE YOUR MP3 PLAYER.

My Archos 1 Vision. Wont play a particular music file. It has played it amazingly fine since i bought it 3 months ago. It was connected to my computer charging for a while, then i turned my system off so it was off for a while.
Wanted to listen to a few songs before bed,turned it on,selected Music,Scrolled down to the file i wanted,Went to select a song.........FROZEN! I can turn it off but the same thing happens everytime i go to select something from this file
Please help i need music on my travels ;-)

Copy and paste the files into the Music folder once you have connected the 405 to the PC via USB and set it in PC mode. Please read the downloadable pdf user guide in ARCHOS main page.

Do not put songs into maps, only put them on your memory card, choose to load from card in audio player and now refresh the song list! it should work perfectly, just don't put the songs into maps! the onlu map you should put songs in, one by one or a bunch of'em is in the "My Music" map.

Thanks and credit to eyez12 - the 2nd option below worked for me

try going to menu, settings, system, and then clicking the update ARCLibrary button, that was all it took for me.
if that doesn't work then go to repair and formatting tools and click "clear temp system files and cache"

Try using Real Player.

Try adding some songs using Windows Media Player. Then on the home screen go to menu-system-system repair tools and reset the temporary settings ( the 1st option on top). Warning:If you have rated your songs the ratings will disapear.

did you rip it in itunes or wmp? it doesn't like itunes songs
