Hi, I have this mother board MSI P67A and Intel Core I5-2500K 3.3Ghz processor. I have it mounted in a Thermaltake V3 Mid Tower with a Ultra LSP550 550w power supply and also 2 Patriot Signature 4GB DDR3 PC1060 1333Mhz CL9/HS memory sticks, a Seagate 1TB hard drive and DVD player. The problem I have is that I have put this computer together and it won't power up, That is to say it powers up for a couple of milliseconds and goes off. It continues to try to power up only for a few milliseconds every so many seconds but never powers up. Ihave to disconnect power to stop it from attempted to power up. Can you help me? All of these componets are brand new but doesn't work. Is my mother board bad? If so, can I get an exchange from TigerDirect or MSI? (I have also tried another power supply that was 600w, still did the same thing.) Help. Mark

Try taking out your ram and putting it back in. Also take out the cmos battery and put it back in. Make sure all the power connectors are securely fastened. Make sure the board is not in contact with the computer case. If it is then you have fried your board. If you still cant get it working then send it to msi. Most motherboards have a minimum 3 year warranty.

That is a good idea, I will try to remove and replace the clock battery and then try the memory remove and reseat them. These are two things I have not tried. The mother board seems to be mounted okay and doesn't seem to be shorting against the chassis.
It this doesn't work then I will contract TigerDirect and ultimately MSI.
Thank you so much for your help and great ideas.

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. With the specs of the computer it seems that the power of 550W is enough and after changing the Power supply to 600W you same result. Most likely the problem is the motherboard if the board is brand new you can ask to a replacement to Tiger Direct and you can ask them since it still has a warranty.

If you have questions please let me know. Thanks for using Fixya

Will an Intel E7400 processor work with an MSI P965 Neo F V2?

Your processor "Intel E7400" is listed as a socket 775 Intell core 2 duo processor. Your motherboard "MSI P965 Neo F V2" is listed as an Intell board using a socket 775 processor socket. New Problem

The manual you need will be on the board manufacturers web page, howevr I will bet you have the case power switch and perhaps the reset switch on the wrong pins on the mother board. To check this, remove the switch leads from the mother board, then use a small screw driver and bridge the pins on the mother board a pair at a time. All of these leads plug on to the board in a line and not across the two lines of pins. when you get the mother board to fire up by this method geet a torch and look closely alongside the pins you will see the letters PWR SW or RS SW. It does not matter what polarity these two sets of leads are plugged onto both will work. The LED lights on the case front will only work if the polarity is correct but it will not do any harm if they are backwords. On the board you should se two sets of pins marked HDD and PWR these are the led light pins you will know you have them right when the usual red and green lights are working at the front of your tower.
