First, turn the printer on. Open the print-carriage access door by pulling it forward. The print carriage moves to the far right side of the HP All-in-One. Wait until the print carriage is idle and silent, and then lightly press down on a print cartridge to release it. If you are replacing the tri-color print cartridge, remove the print cartridge from the slot on the left. If you are replacing the black or photo print cartridge, remove the print cartridge from the slot on the right Pull the print cartridge toward you out of its slot.
Now we're ready to install the new cartridge. Remove the new print cartridge from its packaging and, being careful to touch only the black plastic, gently remove the plastic tape by using the pink pull tab. Slide the new print cartridge forward into the empty slot. Then gently push on the upper part of the print cartridge forward until it clicks into the socket. Close the print-carriage access door.

Greetings,
Try this In service mode.
Put Stop/reset 4 times orange => reset waste ink.
Put stop/reset 8 times orange => set level ink.
This isn't set level but it disable ink check. The LED warning still blink but no error code appear anymore.

Ink cartridge leaked inside of my printer, how to best clean it & why would it?

It is very unlikely that the cartrdige actaully leaked*, more likely what you see is the service station area on the right side of most HP inkjet printers. It is normal for ink to be spit into this area to keep the nozzles healthy. If this is the case it is best to just leave it alone, the service station was designed to collect the ink. If there is a ***** of ink high enough that the top is scraped flat by the service station you could remove it carefully with a plastic spoon. To minimize ink in the service station follow a few guidelines: 1. Do not use an external power strip to turn off the power to teh printer. The printer should always be plugged into a live outlet. Using an external switch will result in the pritner losing track of the time since the last print job, with the result it will use more ink in servicing. 2. Do not run unnecessary cleaning cycles from the maintenance panel. A typical cartrdige would need one or less user initiated cleaning cycles during its life. Users that do a cleaning every day or even once a week expend ink unnecessarily in the service area.

If you have an older Deskjet 800 or 1000 series printer the following may apply.

For more details applicable to your situation please indicate which printer model you have, whether your cartridges are original or refill/reman and also wa tte nature of the leak is.

* If you are using OEM cartrdiges. If you are refilling it is possible to overfill or otherwise cause the cartrdiges to leak.

Printer Toolbox Not Recognizing New Black Ink

The Deskjet 6940 will only show ink level for original HP cartrdgies. Refilled or reman cartridges will show as empty or unknown in the toolbox. This is not an issue with the driver, the cartrdige itself has information that it has been previously used and this is not resettable. You can continue to print with a cartrdige that has unknown ink levels, you will just not get low ink warnings.
