My RCA 52 inch rear projector had started turning itself off last. This happenend several times but we were able to turn it back on with no problem.
Friday it was on for several hours and I turned it off. About two hours later, I tried to turn it on and it kept the green on switch for about 4 sec and turn off. Then it would turn green for the same length of time with a "SIZZLING BACON" sound. It would try to restart itself one more time after turning itself off. Is this tv FRIED?.
i get the "sizzling bacon" sound as well. i got my tv from a neighbor and havent tried plugging it in more than a couple of times, how much is the transformer and where would i get one?i get the "sizzling bacon" sound as well. i got my tv from a neighbor and havent tried plugging it in more than a couple of times, how much is the transformer and where would i get one?

I just want to ask you something before I give the solution, does the unit gone to start-up problem (needs warm-up before it finally turn on, needs to pressed the power button key several times, needs to unplug from the outlet and plug it back in)before, you have said that you've encountered it last few months?
It sounds like the CP150 and or the CP114/120 capacitors need to be replaced, they cost around 3 dollars each and can be found at Radio shack or you can order them from http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/ and they will send instructions with them.
Replace CP150 on the deflection board and that should take care of the problem since it starts once in a wnile if it didnt start ever then you would need the 259296 flyback and the CP150 Capacitor.
I have the same problem. I had someone come look at it and he showed me the problem but a terrible price, so i didnt have it fixed. The reason the light blinks is there is a problem and the safety mech is kicked in which shuts the TV off. If you take the back of the TV off, about 15 screws, you will see right in the front on the left side a part shaped like the letter "C". The number on top of mine is S5 19 2. That is the part that needs to be replaced. Now to find the part on the internet and figure out how to change it out. any suggestions?
Please post the model number of your RCA as usually its a bad flyback and start up capacitor when you get a 3 blink error code . But I can help you better if I have the model number of your set.
