Paper from the tray gets picked up and starts to go to the toner area and then stops. Paper jam light is on, but no paper found to be causing the problem. Now the manual feed does not work--paper gets stuck between the flapper thing right above the papertray holder.

The obvious thing is to turn the printer off, remove paper tray, take out the paper, look to see if anything clearly amiss with either the printer or the paper tray itself, reflll the paper tray with a moderate quantity of preferably fresh paper - though this should not matter - and replace the newly-loaded tray. Turn the printer back on and see if it works or not. You may also try single sheet manual feed if this available for your printer.

Try cleaning the rollers with purified water. See instructions here. Also make sure you fan the paper before loading, try flipping it upside down, and see here. If you have no luck, try another brand of paper, or loading more or fewer sheets...
Good luck, that's a frustrating problem...
Hi,
Reinstalling the printer is related the Software.
If the paper gets physically jammed than its the driver setting issue or hardware issue.
Check if two sheets get jammed or only one sheet.
If it is two sheets than printer is picking up multiple sheets and paper gets jammed.
If the printer is jamming a single sheet than remove the Tray and look there is rubber roller inside if there are marks or lines on that rubber roller or if the roller roller is worn out than that rubber roller called as paper pickup roller need to be replaced.
If that looks fine than try to priny using manual feed and if the problem persists from manual feed too than try another toner cartridge
If the problem is not from Manual feed Tray that Replace the main Tray with known good Tray and check if the issue resolved.
Click File > Print > Properties to check your settings.
To verify that tray 1 is working, put paper in tray 1. Press green
check until you see Information Menu. Scroll using arrows until you see
Print Menu Map then press green check. If it prints from tray 1, your
problem is not with the printer, but with the PC settings.

That is usually caused by the paper feed rollers being cover with paper dust. Take a clean cotton pad and alcohol and clean the rollers :turninig each roller as you clean it. if it has a rear dor, open it to get better access to the rollers.

Sounds like the pickup roller is worn or dirty. Try cleaning the pick up roller for the tray. If this doesn't work the pick up roller will need to be replaced.
Paper from the tray gets picked up and starts to go to the toner area and then stops. Paper jam light is on, but no paper found to be causing the problem.
Now the manual feed does not work--paper gets stuck between the flapper thing right above the papertray holder.
