The file could not be created because there is a file with the same name as the directory that the camera is attempting to create, or the highest possible file number has already been reached. In the Rec. menu, please set [File No.] Reset to [On]. After you save all the images you wish to retain onto a computer, format the SD card. Please note that formatting will erase all the existing images and other data. This information is based on Canon support for your digital camera.

Hi, I have two new Canon ixus 105 cameras which were given free as part of a Michelin Promotion. Both have problems downloading onto my computer. Camera 1: Computer does not recognise that the camera...

Try NOT connecting your cameras to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

File Contains No Message

This is for you, if when you go to look at pictures on your camera that you have already taken, and a message appeares on the screen that says: file contains no message. This happened to me. Don't panic. This happens when you accidently cut your pictures from your sd card, and put them in another folder, so you can look at them. Follow these steps:
1. Delete the messages that say: file contains no message off your camera.
2. The pictures should be already on your computer.
3. Save your pictures to a blank CD.
4. Go to a store with the CD, and get your pictures developed.

I hope this helps.

I TOOK SOME PICTURES WITH MY NIKON COOLPIX S3000 & I EDITED THEM ON MY COMPUTER USING PAINTSHOP PRO. I PUT THEM BACK ON MY CAMERA BUT NOW I CANT VIEW ANY OF THEM I GET AN ERROR MESSAGE THAT SAYS...

Most cameras will not display images that were not taken on that camera (or at least a camera of the same brand). In addition, they will not display edited photographs. If you want to display edited photographs, you'll need to do it on the computer or a digital photo frame.

Upon turning on error message appears " error formatting "memory Stick" c:13:02 flashes above. I can't take any pictures or look at the ones that i've already taken any advice would be appreciated

This looks like a fairly new camera from the name. I think you've got a memory stick problem. For some reason, the camera doesn't like it.

If it is fairly new, go back to the shop, get them to try a different stick, or buy another stick yourself or better still have you got a friend with a Sony memory stick you can try/borrow?

File errors

Download the english manual version pdf file and open with adobe reader go to page 84.
When you upload a file that is not taken by this camera to the removable disk, the [File Error!] message will be displayed on the LCD monitor in the play mode, and nothing is displayed in the THUMBNAIL mode.

Make sure that the memory card is formated in the camera not the memory card reader on the computer. Make sure you save your edited files in jpeg file format. Avi for movies. The manual makes it sound like the camera will not read altered files or files not taken by the camera itself. edited files are not files taken by the camera. Good luck I hope this helps.

Unidentified Image

Usually the only time this message will appear is when you have taken the picture with another camera and try to review it on another. If this is not the issue, try formatting your card. Try another card. It may be a faulty memory card. If none of this works, call Canon tech support for free support.
