This is from the LG website about that TV.
- Rear,
2 x Composite video/audio input (RCA phono x 3) - Side,
2 x S-Video input (4 pin mini-DIN),
1 x USB (4 pin USB Type A),
1 x Audio line-out (RCA phono x 2),
2 x Component video input (RCA phono x 3),
2 x Audio line-in (RCA phono x 2),
1 x Digital audio output (optical) (TOSLINK),
1 x Digital audio output (coaxial) (RCA phono),
3 x HDMI input (19 pin HDMI Type A),
1 x RGB input (15 pin HD D-Sub (HD-15)),
1 x Audio line-in (Mini-phone stereo 3.5 mm),
1 x Serial (9 pin D-Sub),
1 x Remote control (Mini-phone 3.5 mm)
When you use SIMPLINK function, you have to
connect to the OPTICAL IN 1 jack to enjoy TV
sound to your speaker system.
Basically you need to have the Audio go from TV to receiver and setup receiver to that Input to output surround sound to all speakers.
If you have a cable box or satellite receiver, hook that output into the receivers input and that should work.
My setup is DirectTv HDMI output goes into the LG Home Theater HDMI Input 1, and LG goes HDMI output into the TV HDMI input 1.
so to watch DirectTV, I switch LG Home theater to HDMI Input 1. and TV is on HDMI input 1 (to view LG HDMI output from DriectTV, Blu-Ray, Vudu, etc.)
