1. Can Dell Dimension 9100 work with 2x2gb ram? 2. I am trying to install Windows 7 on a refurbished Dell Dimension 9100. It has 2x2gb ram, 1 TB Hard Drive and I have Windows 7 32 and 64 bits + Palit nVidia GeForce 9500GT 1GB Garphics Card. I am stuck as though the computer is powered on nothing is coming up when I put my windows 7 (either 64 or 32 bits) disc on the rom drive. What do I have to do to make it work?

Here is a link for upgrading to Win 7: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19356108.aspx
If you can't boot form the CD/DVD you have a problem with your CD/DVD drive. If you can enter the BOIS (setup menu) then your computer is working, just waiting for a device to boot from.

After a virus infected my Dell dimension 2350 (XP), I replaced the hard drive with one running Windows 7. After increasing my RAM, I still have some serious resolution problems on my Samsung 172N moni

Hey Tim,.
Once you installed Windows 7 onto the hard drive you would need to have installed the drivers. The one driver that is needed for resolution is the video card. You can right click on the desktop and then choose screen ressolution to see if you can change the resolution. Unfortunately, Dell does not have any Windows 7 drivers for the Dimension 2350 system.

Thank You,

Blue Screen Issues

can nit be the motherboard cause you would not be able to boot at all ...probably it was just a real bad virus that affect something ..try to reinstall it clean...first remove the hdd and see it it boots to bios and if it sees the RAM memory ...and even so ..try to get from somewhere some suitable ram memory and replace teh old one ...just to see how it behaves....in most cases I run into when they blow me out and gave blue screen without explanations it was some issues with the ram memory ...so ...first just borrow some of the same size and frequency and see if it boots up ...it might surprise you in a positive way ...

Dell Dimension 9100 - Motherboard & Compatible CPUs

Intel Pentium 4 Socket-T (LGA775) with Hyper-Threading or Dual-Core support, cache 1MB or 2Mb for 9100, or just 2Mb cache for 9150. I know of some of these machines having pentium D installed but I do not believe a Core 2 Duo is an option, whereas Dual-Core is. Good Luck!
