The unit isn't frozen. If you tap the power button you will hear it beep and change screens. What has happened is your touchscreen has failed. This is a common problem. Your touchscreen needs replaced. If you want some troubleshooting info, please see this link. There is just too much info to retype here:

I have never updated my GPS and have had it for about 2 years. The map froze in one spot while driving around and I turned it off. When I did that it then said the map was locked. I tried a reset and now...

try plugging it in to the computer and updating it. chances are it could be a bug in the software and it should be fixed in the newest software update.

Have you try looking in the map area to see if it is checked...

Tools... Settings ..... Map...... on bottom of screen press Map Info

Your SD card if found should have a checkmark in it. If not put one there and try it

You need to plug in your Nuvi into your computer, once connected go to www.MyGarmin.com

It will then seek your Nuvi model and ask if you like to update maps or update firmware.

I would update firmware first.
