If ink cartridge Unrecognizable, there are two posibilities : Chip Error at ink tank, or printer error. For chip error, try to plug the ink tank to another printer (same type). If the ink tank recognized by other printer, so the problem is printer. So ; 1. Check chip conector at head carriage. 2. Check the wiring of the head, and chip. If two point above is ok, the last action is check the power supply and board. It may be epprom is damage.
It sounds like you have incompatible cartridges for your printer... Some folks have reported that disabling the Status monitor and turning the printer off/on, plus rebooting the computer can solve this but that's just something I've heard.
You may want to double check with the ink supplier that they have provided the correct cartridges for your DX rather than a CX model.
I had the same problem too. I went to the Epson website and they gave instructions to shake the cartridge 4-5 times prior to installing. It worked!!! I tried alot of things before I saw that I needed to shake the cartridge. Definitely give this a try if you haven't already.
If your having an error that says "Parts inside the printer are at the end of there Service life" it means that you ink pad is full/ what you can do is change your ink pad and then download an ink pad reset utility so that you can reset the settings/ Make sure to change ink pad before you reset it becuase ink will leak if you don't change it. For the flashing lights, try to check for obstructions inside the printer if not, make sure that ink clicked in and the cover for the tray is closed
