Remove the pump and wash it clean, then dry (for grip). After doing that, read which way you have to twist the pumps and twist the top back and forth while holding the base of the pump still until the top pops up. You generally twist the pump to the left.

Try putting a few drops of water in it, maybe it's just too thick.

Tips on Is Shelf Life for Makeup

Every woman we know has a pile of makeup in her drawer that she "sometimes" uses. Translation: Never uses, but keeps just in case she finally learns how to properly apply blue eyeshadow.

Beauty products do have a shelf life, however, and chances are that blue eyeshadow with the glimmery bits that you bought a couple years ago (for Halloween?) has long expired. Here's a quick guide on the shelf lives of typical beauty products. We've listed them in alphabetical order. Oh, and just one quick little "PS": Please keep in mind that these are estimates, no matter what anyone tells you, it's unlikely you'll go blind from using 2-year-old mascara.
•Concealer Up to 12 months.

•Powder 2 years.

•Cream & gel cleansers 1 year.

•Pencil eye liner Should be sharpened regularly. Will last up to 3 years.

•Eyeshadow Will also last up to 3 years. Extra tip: A dark eyeshadow can double as eyeliner, in fact, most makeup artists swear by eyeshadow used as eyeliner. You'll need a super-flat eyeliner brush for this (MAC, Sephora and Aveda have great brushes). Get the brush a little damp and dab in dark eyeshadow (black, brown or deep jewel-tones work great). Wiggle the brush into your lash line focusing on the space between your lashes, then sweep the color just above your lash line.

•Brushes Wash every 2-3 months in a mild detergent.

•Sponges Wash weekly and discard monthly.

•Foundation Check the ingredients: A water-based foundation will last up to 12 months, oil-based will last up to 18 months. You may find you need two different shades of foundation each year: One for summer when your skin is naturally darker and one for winter when you're lighter. Extra tip: If your water-based foundation dries out before it's expiration date, simply add a few drops of alcohol-free. toner

Step-by-Step Eye Makeup Guide

Even if you've been applying eye makeup for years, it helps to have fresh new tips. Read on to learn how to achieve a more seamless look when applying eye makeup.

The first step in applying eye makeup is to use a primer. A simple foundation primer will work around the eye area and provides a more flawless look. Then, apply your concealer to the eye area and use a foundation brush to apply foundation to the entire face and eye area. This will create a nice base for applying eye makeup.

Once you've created a base, it's time to choose eyeshadow. Choose a product that rates high in beauty product reviews, such as L'Oreal Paris HiP Concentrated Shadow Duo. The lighter color in the palette should be applied all over the eyelid. Then, use an eyeshadow crease brush to sweep the darkest color in your creases. Apply a liner to the top lid only and sweep on 1 to 2 coats of mascara to finish off the look.

I cant get my foundation pump dispenser to pump out the fluid

You may try using a cleanse off oil to clean your liquid foundation pump. Pour some cleanse off oil into a clean container and soak your pump therein for 15 to 20 minutes. Then, try to use a stick (preferably the stick of a q-tip) to take off excess foundation left in the pump's tube. Lastly, using the foundation pump, try to pump the cleanse off oil from the container.

How do you clean foundation brush

Hello,You need to clean your brush once a week. Just use any hand soap like Softsoap since it's highly lathering and gets rid of all the embedded, accumulated ingredients and oil. Then use the same method to clean my make-up puffs and they also come out really clean. If your brushes and powder puffs were very high quality, You might need to use a specialized cleansing solution for them. But they are just standard, cheaper-end tools, so you need to care for them appropriately, not lavishly.
    Thank you!

Hello, as with regard to max factor i love this product. this is the best foundation for me as my skin is very sensitive but this foundation is amazing. the problem is there not much choice in its...

Hi Why dont you try some different loose powder as they are good in yellow tone (if you are specificly looking for yellow tone) Bobbi Brown foundations and concealers.
Also Becca is supposed to have a good colour range re yellow based makeup.
And I find MAC NC to be too yellow for me, lol, so their NC range might be good for you.
And the only yellow based pressed powder that I do use is Benefit Get Even...its good for my undereye circles, and really does do a good job of evening out the complexion

I bought the face foundation with the brush attached and not only did it saturate the brush while flying, but it has splashed on two of my favourite shirts and I have tried everything to get the stains...

For a stain caused by anything with an oily base (including most makeup), try Murphy's Oil Soap. It's vegetable oil based, so it can break up the oil in the makeup. Dab some on full-strength and let it soak in before washing.

I would like to compare the shades of age defying foundation, where can I see a color chart on-line?? Thanks!

You can use the following link: http://www.revlon.com/Revlon-Home/Products/Face/Foundation/Revlon-Age-Defying-Makeup-with-Botafirm-Dry-Skin.aspx

It would be better to go into a store and compare the colours, since the on line chart will not be reflected accurately. Also, when testing foundation, try it on your face not your hand since the skin is a different colour.

How do you use foundation correctly?

I have been a makeup artist for many years, having my own freelance business, working for Estee Lauder, and Lancome, and I strongly believe the best way to use foundation is to start with an exfoliated, clean, and moisturized face.
Step 2: Find a foundation that matches your skin tone. Test it by applying a little on your jaw and blending it down toward your neck. The color should always blend into your neck. Thats how you know its the right color for you. Also, for best results, go for a foundation with medium-full coverage.
Step 3: Apply foundation with a clean foundation brush, and blend down. Foundation brushes give you a flawless finish and you use less of your foundation that way. Sponges will only absorb the foundation, and fingers will give you uneven coverage, and spread bacteria to your face.
Step 4: Apply a translucent powder on top, to help set the foundation, and than Blush or bronzer.
Good Luck :)
