Sony DCR-VX2000 Mini DV Digital Camcorder Logo
Anonymous Posted on Aug 02, 2008

Video output image colors bleeding colors blue and red.

Video quality looks poor, just like VHS quality, color blue bleeding from vertical objects, and so is color red. Its like a TV showing convergence lines needing some re-alignment. Video tend to become blurry or out of focus when zooming in on distant subjects.

Hope somebody can help me fix this camera.

I was an AV technician, I could perhaps fix or calibrate this camera with some help or mentoring from someone who has experienced this particular problem. If the trouble is highly complicated and needed to be send in, please let me know.

What do you think of the issue/trouble on this camera? Thanks in advance.- Manlim

I don't have the service manual. I agree it is vital to the calibration to have this fixed to the original specs. Is there someone who have th service manual and can perform the calibration and what would it cost? thanks.

Present condition of the VX2000: everything works fine, to the untrained eye, it may look ok but not really. The video output lack of quality is apparent specially when shown on big screen. It is not so noticeable on small monitors. FYI.

Thank you for your input. Is there anybody who have access to Sony VX2000 (video ouput) Service Manuals? Thank you.

How to tune up dvd player

  • Plug the power cable of the Samsung VHS/DVD player into an available power outlet near the television.

Connect a set of RCA audio and video cables to the color-coded outputs on the back of your Samsung VHS/DVD player. The colors of these cables are yellow (video), white (left audio) and red (right audio).

Take the other end of the RCA audio and video cables and connect them to the color-corresponding inputs on your television. When plugging in these cables, look for a label for the input, such as "Video 1" and "Audio 1." This will be important in Step 5.

Turn on the television and the Samsung VHS/DVD player.

Tune your television to the video input channel that you noted in Step 3. If you did not take note, you can also tune through your television's input channels until you find the one displaying the signal from the DVD/VCR player.

Insert a VHS tape or DVD into the Samsung player and press the "Play" button to verify that the unit is functioning properly.

Component Video

Plug the power cable of the Samsung VHS/DVD player into an available power outlet near the television.

Connect a set of component video cables to the color-coded outputs on the back of your Samsung VHS/DVD player. These cables will look similar to composite audio and video cables, but they are instead color-coded as red, blue and green.

Plug the other end of the component video cables into the color-corresponding inputs on your television. Take note of what input number you are plugging the cords into, as it will be useful later.

Connect a set of RCA audio cables to "Audio Out" jacks on your VHS/DVD player, then connect the other ends to your television. These cables are color-coded as red and white and must be plugged into the same input number as the component video cables.

Turn on the television and the Samsung VHS/DVD player.

Tune your television to the component video input channel where you connected the Samsung VHS/DVD player.

Insert a VHS or DVD into the Samsung player and press the "Play" button to verify that the unit is functioning properly.

AOC PD4264 Screen fault

Extremely blue color temperature that cannot be adjusted; some false-contouring artifacts in dark scenes; no picture-in-picture; limited connectivity with just one DVI and no HDMI inputs.
If use as a TV monitor:
The number of colors you can display is controlled by the video card installed in your computer. In order to display more than 16 colors, the proper video card driver must be installed. Contact your computer or video card manufacturer to obtain the latest driver from them.
If you are watching standard-definition or Cable/RF signal on an HDTV, the picture may appear to be of poor quality. This is because the TV is designed for viewing HD or at least digital content. Your best bet would be to upgrade to a Dish Network HD receiver and connect it to the TV with an HDMI cable. Similarly inputting analog signal to TV from your DVD player will not appear to be of great quality. A newer DVD player would most likely have component video output which would look much better. To get even greater quality, an upconverting DVD player connected with an HDMI cable would look the best. You could also upgrade to a Blu-ray disc player, which is capable of playing HD Blu-ray discs as well as DVD's at higher resolution. A less expensive choice could also be a streaming media box. When we watch our insignia television anything red in color looks as if it is jumping or quivering...why is this?

This sounds like you are using a composite, S-Video, or RF cable input.

The quality of these inputs are not as capable as component or HDMI, so colors are not separated as well. Red is a color that saturates heavily and will cause bleed as well as dithering...especially intense colors (bright green, bright blue, bright yellow, bright red).

To reduce this visual annoyance you would need to soften the video output from the player (not easy to accomplish), or upgrade to a better cable connection.

Hope this helps!

Connecting my TV and DVD player to a digital set top box

There are 4 different types of cables and they have to do with the quality and resolution of what they carry.
1) Coaxial or an RCA to RCA, 'Yellow colored connectors' - Composite video - Lowest quality of video you can get. Mostly what people hook up from their VCR's. '240 to 480 lines of interlaced resolution.

2) S-VHS cable - 4 pins - Carry Chroma 'Color' over the one set of two pins and Luminance 'B&W' signal over the other 2 pins. This is a higher resolution than the Composite video cable - 480 to 512 'still interlaced resolution' or ' i ' .

3) Component cables - RCA ends but there are 3 of them. Red colored 'for the Red video signal', Green colored connector 'for the Green video signal with Vertical sync laid on top of it,' and then Blue colored 'for the 'yep you guessed it' the Blue video signal with the horizontal carrier laid on top of the signal'.
This is the higher resolution of 720 ' i ' interlaced or even when selected by your piece of output equipment up to 1080p 'Progressive' resolution if your equipment can output this highest resolution.

4) HDMI - is a cable that not only carries the component but does it digitally along with audio and an ID bit that the Transmitting equipment 'STB' in this case should communicate with your 32" LCD HD-TV so that it will put out the maximum signal 'probably 1080P' that your TV will handle.
I would try to obtain an HDMI cable and use this to connect your STB to your LCD for the best connection between your two units.

No color and no audio

yes , this is why , on your dvd there is a "yellow for video" output on it ,and then there is a "red output jack for right audio"
and then there is a "white output jack for left audio" does your tv have these inputs?

the blue , green and red "RCA JACKS" are called " composite video" which seperates the colors of given video

the red and white RCA jacks are for right and left audio and are required when using composite or the yellow video jack

there is also a "s-video" connection that is one cable but seperates the colors for better picture quality ( dvd player only)( vcr and tuner do not work with this)

then there is a optical or coax digital connection for a reciever that decodes the connections audio digital signals for dolby digital surround sound

QuickCam Express, blurry, snowy picture...sometimes the picture is totally shaded red

Hi,

Many factors can affect the image quality of your pictures. If you are experiencing blurry images, please try adjusting the focus ring located around the lens.

This will allow you to focus the camera image on objects at different distances.

Also, make sure there is good lighting. Improving the lighting conditions can improve the image quality considerably.

Connection Issues:

If the image quality is poor while transmitting video over the Internet using video enabled programs such as MSN Messenger, Yahoo! or AOL Instant Messenger, your connection speed to the Internet directly affects the image quality of the transmitted video.

Corporate LAN, DSL/cable modem connections will result in the best image quality experience, while dial-up connections may result in choppy and overall poor quality because of the slower connection speed.

Even broadband connections such as DSL/cable modem may experience choppy video at times because of Internet traffic or slow upload speeds.

If the image appears clearly in the camera software, most likely your Internet connection may be responsible for the poor image quality in your video program.

Changing Display Adapter Settings:

If you are still experiencing a distorted, fuzzy or grainy image, you may need to change the settings for your display adapter.

For optimal image quality, please make sure the video display adapter is set to display at least 16-bit high color or higher.

To change the color palette please perform the following steps:

Click on "Start," "Settings," and "Control Panel."

Double-click on the Display icon.

Click on the tab labeled Settings.

In the dialog box labeled Color Palette, verify the video mode is set to 16-bit (high color) or 24-bit (true color).

Also, check with the manufacturer of the video card for updated video drivers.

Low Light Boost:

If you cannot do anything to improve the lighting situation, some Logitech video cameras have an option for "Low Light Boost."

If there is an option for "Low Light Boost," try enabling the "Low Light Boost" in the QuickCam software.

To do this:

Open the QuickCam software.

At the bottom right hand corner of the camera image box, click on the arrow next to the QuickCam icon.

Choose "Advanced Camera Settings".

Under the Image Enhancement box, place a check mark in the "Low Light Boost" option.

If that does not improve the image quality, try adjusting the other image settings, such as contrast, saturation brightness, gain and white balance.

Click OK when your are done.

Last, make sure that you ae using the latest drivers.

You can upodate them from here.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck.
