It also depends on the Mobile Phone. In few Mobile phones, you have an option to Copy the Contacts directly to Sim. You can use that.

If it is not there, you can also use a Memory card to store the Contacts in your Hard drive and then copy onto SIM.

If the above options could not help you, kindly let me know with Make and Model of the cellphone.

No, Samsung SPH-m540 Rant doesn't have a SIM card.It's a CDMA phone. You'll have to conatct your service provider to activate a CDMA phone.
