Our Garmin didn't turn on. We unplugged it, pushed the reset button on the bottom and then plugged it in again and it WORKED
Tried everything subscribed on many of the GPS sites, including the reset button. It was only THIS thread which describes the MANNER in which the reset button must be pushed, that does the trick.
Your finger is NOT ENOUGH to fully depress the reset button. I used the corner of the small end of the USB connector to depress it AFTER disconnecting it from the unit. Nothing happenend when I released the reset button, but when I plugged it back into the laptop via the USB cable, it turned on automatically.
Omg, i didnt even realize there was a rest button until i read this forum, i used a paper clip AND IT WORKED!!! THANK GOD, i thought that i was going to be left with another brick of technology. Last wk, my WII console turned into a brick! Thanks for all the posts, it helped!

My garmin worked only twice in the last year since I purchased it. Is there any customer support for Garmin? Can I return this item?
I had the same trouble. I had it plugged in for several hours the second to the last time I used it which should have left it with a full charge. The last time I used it, which was one day later, it showed it had 3/4 charge when it should have been full. The unit worked for a while later, then went dead presumably after the battery went dead, in spite of being plugged in during this last time of using it. It was as if the unit was not plugged in, even though it was. I was unable to get it to work after using my fingernail to press the reset button. After reading the postings on this site and recommended fixes, I pressed the button again this time with a pointed object, with the unit unplugged and this time it worked fine after I plugged it back in. I suspect there might have been a power surge from starting and stopping the vehicle with the unit plugged in that triped a safety circuit built into the unit and thereby needed to be reset. I suggest making sure you are fully depressing the reset button before giving up. I was being cautious not to damage the lable and not resetting the unit. Press it firmly untill you feel it bottom out and the lable should still be fine. Good luck to all and thanks to all who help others on this site!
