My wii will not power on

I have had my wii for about three months and rarely ever play and. I went to turn it on and it will not power up any more what can I do?

  • kellispohn Aug 03, 2008

I had the same problem, and your solution fixed it. You do have to unplug EVERYTHING, including sensor bar and connection to TV.

Unplug the Wii from EVERYTHING....TV, the outlets...let sit for a while and plug everything back in. Worked for me

  • Anonymous Aug 03, 2008

Did you let it sit for a little while? (msbamacarpen) I had to let mine sit for about 10 minutes or so....try that....it that doesn't work I am not sure what happened..you might have to contact Nintendo. They have more expertise than me....my solution was just pure stupid luck.

Did you unplug everything FROM the Wii as well...all you should have in your hand is a box....no wires from it as well...basically pull all the components away from the Wii, wall and TV and let it sit for a little while......

Wii will not turn on and game will not play or eject

It can be related to a number of issues and so you need to start with checking the power to the unit. Reset the unit if there is power, remove power for about 30 minutes and check again before you need to find help from the service center.

My toy story mania wii game has no sound

I had the same problem. No sound, no music and went to the OPTIONS area while playing and discovered the sound was turned down all the way. I think it was done by my 3 year old. Regardless it took about a month to find this out and multiple internet searches.

First, Check your wii adaptor, In normal conditions the wii adapter provides the output 12volt. You can test the output using multimeter or a 12volt lamp.

then
plug it into the outlet, If the light is still off/flashing, disconnect the AC Adapter unplug from the wall outlet, wait 2 minutes and plug it back into the outlet. Turn the console power ON.

hopefully this help..

After not using my wii for about a month i went to play it the other day and it wouldn't turn on. The indicator light on the power button is off, not green, red, or orange. All the cords are connected, I...

Unplug it from the wall outlet (NOT from the Wii). Leave it unplugged for a good 5 to 10 minutes. The AC adapter needs to be reset (more on that below).

Considering how often I see this problem, I'm amazed Nintendo didn't address it in their FAQ on the Wii.

This is a common problem with the Wii. As I said, I'm very surprised Nintnedo didn't cover this in the owners manual FAQ, considering it happens almost every time there is a power surge or the power goes out, etc.

Even if it's hooked up to a surge protector, this happens. Power comes back on, but the Wii appears dead. It won't turn on, and the LED indicators won't light. If there was a power surge, or the power went out,etc...anything, this will happen. The problem is with the AC adapter, not the Wii itself.

There is a circuit inside the AC adapter that needs to be reset. Unplug the AC adapter from the wall/surge protector outlet. Don't unlpug it from the Wii, it has to be at the outlet. You have to kill power to the adapter.

Unlpug it from the wall/surge protector outlet, and leave it unplugged for 5 or 10minutes. This will kill power to the AC adapter, and give the circuit time to reset. When you plug the adapter back into the outlet after 10 minutes, the red led on the front should be lit up.

Wii is showing in Black & White with sound.

I would check your video connection. And make sure all cables are secured. It is possible the video cable may be bad. Try it on another TV, if it works, it may be the TV
