I have a GE Top Loader Model WNSB8060B0WW, when starting the Drain nand Spin cycle the pump turns on and drains the tub, the relay which is between the capsitor and motor makes a loud clicking sound, and the motor does not spin. I checked the lid switch and it functions properly, and turns off the machine when the lid is lifted. Cannot find a schematic for the machine to trace the leads so I really canot diagnose the issue. Is it the timer, over flow switch? Please give me some idea what to check.
SOURCE: Kenmore series 70 washer won't stop agitating when lid Is lifted.
I have a Series 80 and when I lift the lid it does not stop aggitating when in wash mode. When I lift the lid it does stop spinning when in rinse mode. As designed.
To stop wash-mode aggitation at lid-lift, using the existing lid switch and other electrical components, is not easy and not recommended. I can think of a way to do it (triple-pole lid switch) but I will not detail the idea .. for safety concerns.
To stop aggitation, simply use the main settings dial control. You'll save money and possibly prevent a fire hazard!

Curdy, it almost sounds like your lid switch is loose or fractured and the lid actuator is not making the switch. Check this out first and post back...Catriver.

Jayron, is the motor jogging? start to spin, stop, start to spin stop. If so, your motor is jogging between the high and low start windings. The motor during spin should start on the high speed windings and stay there until most of the water is drained. GE came out with a new motor, harness and run cap because of this. If you have a meter, there should be a white and white/red wire going to the motor. If you have a steady 120V and it's doing this jogging, replace the motor with the kit...Let me know if this the issue, Catriver..post back.

Hi,
If your washer won't spin, check these:
It doesn't pump or spin
It pumps, but doesn't spin
It spins only with the lid closed
It doesn't pump or spin
If it doesn't pump water out or spin, check to see if the motor is running, then proceed as follows:
It pumps, but doesn't spin
If your washer pumps out the water but doesn't spin, check these:
It spins only with the lid closed
For
safety, washing machines are made so that they spin only with the lid
closed. The lid switch prevents the spinning action when the lid is up.

first look to see if this is a belt drive. If not look for a coupler(round black rubber piece with three holes, three plastic fingers from both sides going in it) from the motor to the gearcase. The motor sit between the pump and gearcase, it will pump out, but not spin.
