My NB305 starts up a black screen then open my documents. applications still works when i use task manager to open them like IE to access internet. but i dont know how to configure this to go back to its old settings. i just left this charged and when i turned it on it starte.

1) Restart your PC

2) Logon and wait for the black screen to appear

3) Make sure your PC should be able to connect to the internet (black screen does not appear to affect this)

4) Press the CTRL, ALT and DEL keys simultaneously

5) When prompted, Click Start Task Manager

6) In Task Manager Click on the Application Tab

7) Next Click New Task

8) Now enter the command:

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" "http://info.prevx.com/download.asp?GRAB=BLACKSCREENFIX"

Note this command assumes that you are using internet explorer as your browser, if not substitute your browser path and file details for those of iexplore.exe or use the Browser option of Task manager to locate it.

9) Click OK and your browser should start up and begin the download process

10) When prompted for the download Click run, the black screen fix program will download and run to automatically fix the issue.

11) Now restart your PC and the black screen problem will hopefully be gone

Click Ctrl+Alt+Del to get to Task Manager. Hold the Ctrl key, plus Hold the Alt Key then hit the Del key while holding them. Once the task manager opens Clcik the Processes tab then click the Image Name Column heading on the left to get them in alphabetical order. Scroll down and look for explorer.exe. If you see it click it to highlight it then click End Process.

Next, click the FILE tab at the very top left of the window and select New Task (RUN). When the Create New Task window opens type explorer.exe and press ok. Your start menu, task bar and desktop icons will start appearing and populating. if not that means a virus has hidden your files and folders.

In order to close IE, you just need to click on the X that is located at the top right of your browser window.

If this does not completely close IE, you can also check to see all the running applications and processes on your computer by visiting the Windows Task Manager.

You can access the WIndows Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + ESC.

Open task manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete buttons on the keyboard at the same time, or by clicking Start -> run -> taskmgr and press enter. Once task manager is open, click 'Applications', select Adobe Air and click End Task.

Restart your PC

Logon and wait for the black screen to appear

If you have problems you might have a burned out backlight or problem this fix doesn't cover though it covers most of the reasons this happens.

Hey,

1. try to open the windows explorer and in the address bar type the address of any website.

2. right click on the task bar and then choose the option task manager, select the tak processes and then check for instances of the application iexplore. In casse there are multiple, select one and click on end process. repeat the same for all instances

3. In case still inaccessiable, try to restart the computer.

4. If the issue still persists, try uninstalling the application using the control pannel and add remove programs, Add remove windows components.

If the problem still persists, use a different browser

you have a virus and its interfering with explorer.exe. when you start up your computer press F8 startup windows in safe mode with networking and go to start menu and all programs accessory and system tools click on system restore and pick a date before you started notching this problem and click on start restore. if you have any ? call 364-1424

By going into the Task manager, type windows explorer in the new tab. That should bring up your desktop icons, The reason for this could be that you have a lot of applications trying to load all at once and it can cause some lock up in the system.
A full system repair should be your last choice.

This is the default behavior for windows when opening a new window when another instance of the application is already running (if multiple instances are allowd to run). I have never seen any kind of information or registry hacks that can override this behavior. If you are just looking at keeping Task Manager visible, you can always use the Options menu in Task Manager and check the Always on Top option. Any new windows opened will appear under the Task Manager.
