Need to replace belt on E series Rainbow. If I had pictures, I could probably do it,

Replace the belt if it's over 6 months old. Belts lose elasticity from being stretched

Sounds like you need to take the bolt out and put on a new belt, it probably is melted and stretched.

If it smells like burning rubber, the belt is probably worn and slipping. If it's another burning smell, your motor windings are probably shorting and will burn out soon

The best thing to do is take the machine to an authorized Rainbow dealer and let them replace it.
If your rainbow is still under warranty, replacing th belt yourself will void any warranty there may be.

Your belt is worn and that is why there is a burnt rubber smell. You need to change your belt. You can find a replacement belt and instructions here:

The belt looses it tensile strength (tightness) over time. But it's the part about funny sounds and shutting down that concerns me. If it smells like a tire fire then it's the belt if it smells like plastic and burned hair then the motor has a bad field or armature. Probably one of the carbon brushes got hung up and burned a segment in the armature.

Some of the e-series has a corrugated filter in the top section. To get to it, remove the clear plastic panels that are the sides. Most have 3 screws on each side to move, then the top half will come loose. There also is filter on the back, there is a door to remove to get to it.

i have never used my rainbow shampooer and have had it 2 or 3 years it is not working it will **** up water but will not spray water or shampoo what do i do?
