I have a v173 lcd monitor by Acer. Suddenly yesterday the screen went dark. The power seems to be working as the blue light for the power button is "on"/lit. When hitting the power button the screen displays my home page for a brief second or 2 then it goes black. Can you please provide me with some assistance i.e., if I can fix it myself or it needs servicing. Note: all cables - connector and power adre in place. THANK YOU

You need to check the fuse (round black component next to the small green circuit board as shown on the left of the picture), DC filter caps for domed tops, DC voltages. Tho have to fix will not be worth it. The problem is more likely to be the small circuits board (on the left of the picture).

Acer monitor model v173 problem Gents the monitor i have is anew one just taken out from the cartoon when I connected it to the computer the when it is powered it shows the picture only for 3 seconds then...

it could be a capacitor but I can only assume since I only have limited feedback, I would either have it check out by a professorial or replace it, depending on what is convenient.

Hello,

You are right. You are seeing an internal part that is in the middle of the light.

Specifically, the light is an LED (light emitting diode) the part you are seeing is the stand on which the actually silicon chip is mounted.

Sounds like a problem with the video board of the monitor. I would contact Acer, since it less than 3 yrs old, tell them the problem that you are having get an RMA number and they will fix it for free. You only have to pay for shipping it back. Hope this helps.

Monitor problem

The power light is flashing green can indicate start/restart of the power supply due to shorts circuits or failing power supply due to bad caps, look for bad caps with bulging top first, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see insdie so we can guide you furhter.

Monitor suddenly went dark. Switched it to another system but still dark. Power light on. V9s S1901D S/N T34F501728

Disconnected Data cable from the monitor to the back of the CPU. Do a self test on monitor if u get colors on the monitor it is working fine.
check for loose cables. Try to do factory reset on monitor using buttons on monitor.

Monitor went dark and does not light up at all. Is it more cost effective to trash it and buy another or is repair feasable?

If you still get the blue power light output but it is dimmed, I've had the same problem - unplug both computer and monitor - hold power button for monitor for 15-30 seconds...then power it back on and then power on the computer. Seems from other sites there is a power issue with the monitor - this worked for me.
