I want to install windows Xp to mya IBM 300GL.. But, I couldn't boot from CD... what i have to do???

To update the BIOS on the IBM 300GL PC, you will need to go to the Lenovo web site to get the latest update and install instructions.

This will get you to the instruction and download page for your PC.

Restart your computer
During the boot process you will see on the screen for a very short time to press a certain key to enter setup usually the Delete or F2 key the F1 key for IBM PC 300GL
this will vary depending on your computer and operating system

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS using the arrow keys load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart

or this will set the boot order

the using arrow keys navigate to advanced bios features press enter change which drive you want to boot from

have u changed the bios settings to boot from cd

goto BIOS by pressing F2 or Del while booting then in the boot priority menu change first boot device as cd rom...

The problem is that you need to boot up the laptop with the CD as the first boot device so you can then install Windows XP.
If you press F12 a boot up you will get a list of alternate boot devices oher than the hard disk as the first boot device, which was set up in the BIOS. Select the CD as the first boot device and when prompted press the space bar to start the CD.

You have to download the scsi driver from the ibm site. You'll need a floppy and floppy drive. When you boot with your xp cd to setup press F6 to install driver.
