Sharp Actius MC24 PC Notebook overheating and shutting down

Basically this is the problem. My Sharp Actius MC24 keeps running really hot and then shutting down. I just bought an Antec notebook cooler from Circuitcity, but it still keeps shutting down. The Sharp laptop is about 3 years old, but I have a IBM that I have had for 5 years and it is still running fine. So what can I do?

I have the same problem, the fan is clean, the warranty expired...
It doesn't work more than 2 hours

The issue seems to be the same I have with the Actius PC-UM32 and that
other people have reported. Apparently it is caused by a short circuit
caused by the video card.

If it under warranty I would take it back to them.
If not I would open it up and check for dust build up and make sure the fan is working...

check in your bios and see if your hard drive is showing. If not remove the hard drive and connect it again.

Hello, I have a Sharp Actius MC 24. I'm looking to upgrade the memory. I found 1 memory board in the compartment with the fan on the bottom of the machine. This board was labeled 256 MB. Do I remove this...

The other memory module is soldered on to the motherboard.
Go to Crucial.com and run the memory upgrade scanner. This tool will tell you what memory the system can use and exactly how you can upgrade.

Sharp MC24 notebook will not charge the battery

The charging element on the mainboard that passes the AC/ to a resistor is out, gone, needs to be replaced and in saying that the mainboard comes with it unfortunitly.

Sharp notebook can only be repaired by Sharp, according to Sharp

What does the jack look like? Can you post a pic?
