Press the MATH key to bring up the Math menu. Select "Real" and then "HMS->". This function takes an angle in DDD.MMSS format and converts to decimal degrees. The "->HMS" function goes the other way.

Dd to dms conversion

Press the DMS button to convert between decimal degrees and degrees-minutes-seconds.
The DMS button is marked with the degree, minute, and second symbols. It's located above the [ENG] key, which is located above the [8] key.
For full details, start with the "Degree, Minute, Second (Sexagesimal) Calculations" section beginning on page E-22 of the manual. If you need a manual, you may download a copy here.

Can I convert Decimal Degrees to Degrees, Minutes, Seconds on my casio fx-991 ES?

Yes. Pressing the DMS key (two keys above the 8 key) when a result is displayed toggles the result between decimal degrees and degrees-minutes-seconds.

For example, to convert 3.5 degrees, press 3 . 5 = and you'll see 3.5. Now press DMS and you'll see 3 degrees 30 minutes 0 seconds.

I can't figure out how to use the degree, minutes, and seconds button to get to a decimal number.

Enter the number of degrees, press DMS, enter the number of minutes, press DMS, enter the number of seconds, press DMS. Press S--D. If you get a fraction, press S--D again.

DMS is the degrees-minutes-seconds button located above the ENG button, S--D is the symbolic--decimal button located above the DEL button.

How do you put degrees mins & secs in a ti 84 plus

The DMS symbols are available under the ANGLE menu
Press [2nd][APPS] (ANGLE)
Under that menu you find the degree and minute symbol. To enter the seconds unit you use the key sequence [ALPHA][+] (")
To enter 1deg 15 minutes and 37 seconds
1 [2nd][APPS] [1:deg] 15[2nd][Apps][2:'] 37 [ALPHA] [+]

To enter a number in decimal degrees (eg 15.37)
  1. If angle unit is the degree just enter 15.37
  2. If angle unit is the radian , you must specify the angle unit as degrees: To enter 15.37 degrees you type 15.37 [2nd][Apps][1: degree] [ENTER].
To convert from DMS to DD and from DD to DMS, you use the sequence [2nd][Apps][4:|=>DMS].

HOW DO YOU USE THE DEGREES MINUTE SECONDS FUNCTION

Hello,
To convert an angle from degrees (decimal degrees) to the sexagesimal notation (deg, min, seconds) use the key [DMS] the one between [(-) and [hyp].
Everytime you press the key, the displayed result is cast in the other form
EX; 12.58 [DMS] gives 12 deg 34 min 48 sec.
Suggestion: If you are doing many calculations with the sexagesimal format, use the decimal degree format, and only when you find the final result do you convert it to DMS.
Hope it helps.

Converting degrees and minutes and seconds to radians

Hello,
With the TI8x/TI8xPlus you can enter an angle in degrees (Angle mode must be set to degrees) and convert it into DMS representation the following way. Exemple
18.675 [2nd][ANGLE][4] [ENTER] gives 18deg 40' 30''
If Angle [MODE] is set to degrees you can enter a number in radians and convert it into degrees. Exemple How many degrees are ther in 1rad ?
[1][2nd][ANGLE][3] display 1 with a small r as superscrit. Pressing [ENTER] yields 57.29577951

To convert 1rad into DMS, takes a little effort but can be done: you have
to convert radians to degrees and the result [ANS] into DMS.

You cannot use an angle written in DMS in any calculation.
But if you want to convert an angle from degrees to radians enter your number and divide by 57.29577951

Hope it helps
