SOURCE: low ohm light on 500/5 front left channel doesn't work.

The first thing is to meter all the speakers with a volt/ohm meter. They should read somewhere between 2-6 ohms. If they meter good try swapping the RCA's and see if there is any difference. But if both of those check out ok than. Unfortunately it would appear that your amp has a bad output channel. What seems to happen is that when the amp is cycled off and on, off and on etc. the solder on the PCB can get brittle causing problems. The only answer i can offer is to send it to JL to repair or find a good repair shop that works on car audio amps. It's getting harder to find a good tech but they are out there. If you send it to JL they have a set repair rate of $180.00 which covers the return postage while the customer pays the shipping cost getting it there. They do an excellent job and pretty much go thru the whole board and replace not only what is wrong but will also perform any mods or changes since date of manufacture.

Testimonial: "yes I have already sent the unit to JL. it seemed like the fastest and more secure way of fixing this problem. thanks."

SOURCE: amp sends power to sub at low volume. but when

are the sub speakers ok? if ok then u have a problem with the Amp and the output IC's will have to be checked there cud be a problem with the input card in the amp.

Determine if an analog receiver has blown a channel

When you need to replace the output transistors, do them both at the same time with a matched pair. That way you won't unbalance the power supply and will be assured of the same power out is available on both channels.

I have a Peavey xr 684 that is blown out on the right or main side but the left or monitor side works just fine. I don't own it but I am trying to fix it for our church. I'm thinking that someone ran the 2...

The first thing to do is check or more likely replace the power output devices (located on the massive heat sink) on the faulty channel. Then look around for burnt and damaged parts. You might need to replace bias resistors on that faulty channel, which are connected with the output devices. If it powers up as it stands the power supply section should be OK.

Left channel not operating on crown xls 602

Every time i have this prob i've blown that channel. In my case i,ve had dodgy connections to my speakers and if it is operating with high voltage rails they don't take much to blow.
Take off cover and you will no doubt find fuses somewhere blown. If it has come from speakers you prob done the amp but if not you might be lucky and just have to replace a single fuse or so.Good luck,Paul

Fuse blew on power now stuck in Protection Mode

Sounds like the out put stage of the amp is shorting, They are either 4 large transistors attached to an aluminium plate (heatsink) or one large chip with heatsink. also sounds as the driver stage went too when you switched it on the second time. If you know nothing of electronics I suggest you take it to an audio repair shop, as it is cheaper to repair than replace high power amplifiers.

Yamaha rx-v2200 sound problem

Hi Zanthena - my Yamaha rx v 2200 is doing exactly the same thing - did you manage to track the problem down? I have had my unit in for repair and the fault occurred again 6 hours after I re-installed it.

Any help would really be appreciated!

Connecting my cd stereo to 1990 Ford Taurus

since it worked before and you didnt change anything and now there is no power it looks like you blew a fuse when connecting wires. check the radio fuse on the door panel, and check the int. lighting fuse under the hood of the car. take both out and see if they are blown, if blown buy new fuses and replace.

heres the wiring diagram for a 1990 Ford Taurus:

Left Front (+) orange/lt green
Left Front (-) lt blue/white or Blk
Left Rear (+) pink/lt green
Left Rear (-) dk blue/ orange or Blk/Wht
Right Front (+) Wht/Lt green
Right Front (-) Dk green/ orange
Right Rear (+) pink/Lt blue
Right Rear (-) Tan/White
Lt green/yellow Hot at all times
Black - Ground
Yellow/Blk - Ignition
Lt blue/red - Acc
Orange/blk - Dimmer Lights

Sony TA-VE100

First of all check for loose connections. Also see if the left front audio output is working or not.
