The standby light should be blinking a repeating count with a 2 second pause between counts. Can you post hte count here please? That will help to determine the effected circuit and the solution.

Thanks,
Dan

The 5 blinks could be a few different things. Lets start with the simple ones first. Try turning up the screen voltage a bit. To do this, open up the back and locate the flyback transformer(part with large red wire coming out the top). There should be 2 controls on it. Turn the top control slightly clockwise. This should brighten up the screen just a bit and hopefully prevent the screen shutoff. If it resolves the problem, then this action has bought you enough time to replace the set as the CRT is starting to fail. If that does not resolve the problem, please confirm the model number so I can get you detailed info for the next step. I believe your model is KV-36XBR800. Is that correct?

    Thanks,

    Dan

Sony trintron--red lights

The 2 blinks is a diagnostic code that should indicate the problem circuit. This is unique to each model though. Can you confirm that the model in question here is KV-32FS120?
