Installation problems. Ok, I got this router from a friend of mine. Right now, I am trying to get the router connected so I can play XBOX Live. But the problem I have is with the installation CD. I followed the instructions(Connect the Modem to the computer, do not connect the router yet.) and all I get is a message saying that my internet is not connected, even though I can get online and do anything a normal person could do.

Hi,

the CD is not really necessary for the installation.

Follow these steps :

  • Connect the computer to the router.
  • Open the setup page. Default password is admin.
  • In Setup, click on the subtab, MAC Address Clone.
  • Click Clone. Click Save Settings.
  • Turn OFF the Router and the Modem. Wait for 10 seconds.
  • Turn the Modem ON, wait for 10 secs.
  • Turn the Router ON.
  • Try going Online. You should be ONLINE !!!
  • Click on the Wireless TAB, change the name [SSID].
  • Change the channel to 11-2.462 GHz.
  • If you want to enable wireless security, go for WEP 64 bits.
  • Read this article about Wireless Security.
Hope this helps mate !
All the Best.

On my xbox 360 i can't connect to my friend and he can't connect to me and he told me i needed to change my router settings and i don't know how too and i have a DI 624

You trying to do a system link? If so then you just need to use the network cable you got with the xbox360 put one end in your computer and the other in your friends xbox. This will link your two xbox's without the need of going through the router. If you want to use the router to connect each other you will have to set up the network IP addresses that are set for your network manually. I can't tell you how to do this as I don't know anything about what network setting you using. If you want to connect to your friend over xbox live to play together sign up for select join xbox live from your avartar screen and sign up for xbox live you both will need an xbox live gold account. Once your gold accounts have been set up add each other as friends and then you or your friend can invite each other to games just remember that you both need a copy of the game you want to play in any case.

I have a xbox 360 that is connected to Xbox live. While playing MW2 I try to join up on matchmaking but with the constant problem of not being able to find a match. I can join into a friends party and play...

You do not have the proper ports forwarded in your router.

Here is a link with many router models and step by step instructions.

Connection Interrupted on Xbox Live with COD

To me it sounds like you are having a DSL problem. If you are not up to calling your ISP for a trouble call, try playing at a friends house with your console and see if the problem happens there also. If it has no problems, then you know your console is not the culprit. You could also try connecting directly to your modem and bypassing the router for testing purposes. If a direct connect to modem works, then look at your router.

Linksys is PnP with Live. You should not have to open any ports. If you get to the point during troubleshooting that you know for sure it is your router, reset it to default settings.

XBOX Live is "connected" but i cant play any games online because the server is always "Temporarily unavailable"

xbox live has recently added three ports for wireless internet.
if you know how to open ports (protocols) on your wireless router, then the following should be open (enabled) for your xbox 360s IP adress:
TCP
: 80

TCP and UDP:
:3074

Turning the xbox 360 into xbox 360 live?

ok, so if you want to do it wirelessly you need to get the wireless network adapter for the 360. i got mine at target for about 100 bucks. You also will need a Xbox live Gold card if you are wanting to play with your friends. you can also get your subcription over the xbox by using a credit card. The setup is pretty simple, just follow the on screan instructions. I am assuming your dashboard uses the "blades". if so, go over to the marketplace section, and go to join xbox live. then it will guide you through the process.

Hope this helps you.

Cannot connect xbox 360 to wireless router

If you use DSL I would also check to make sure you are not being port blocked by your ISP. Some will block you if you exceed bandwidth on a particular port rather than throttling you or shutting you down entirely.

Xbox live is not working it keeps coming up with 'you need an active connection to play online or system link matches' but my connection is fi and none of my friends can play as well?

Suggestion: <b>MTU Error</b>

This issue occurs if your router or the gateway is incompatible with Xbox Live, or if your router or the gateway has an incorrect MTU setting. Note: Xbox Live requires a minimum MTU setting of 1364. We recommend that you try out the steps shown below.

Things to try:
1. Ensure that you have properly setup your connection to Live by using the Connectivity Wizard http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/connecttolive/xbox360/connectionmethods/webconnectivitywizard.htm
2. Visit the following Web site to determine whether you have the correct firmware version that has been certified as compatible: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/connect/routerlanding.htm
3. See the router or gateway instruction manual for information about how to change the MTU setting to 1364, to do this, or to determine whether your router supports this feature, see the router support documentation or contact support for your router device.
4. If you share a connection with a router and a modem, try a direct connection without the router.
