Question about Computers & Internet
Make a windows xp Bootable disk ..and use it to reinstall windows xp into your computer.
1.If you don't have a windows xp iso image ...you can download one using bitTorrent.
Navigate here to download biTtorrent, install the app.
Click here and select open(windows xp torrent file) ..click OK.
Next download CdBurnerXP -->click here, install the app.
1) Open the program CDburnXP (start/programs / click on CDburnXP)
click on burn ISO buttonNext you will see this input console screen: (click on the "browse"
button and navigate to the ISO file you wish to burn; then click on
"burn")
The iso file is the file that you downloaded with biTtorrent ..(Microsoft.Windows.XP.Professional.SP3.Integrated.February.2011.SATA)
Once you finished ,insert the disk into CD-Rom and you will see a message "Press any key to boot from CD/DVD ."
If you don't see this message boot manually, press F11 or F8 and select your CD Drive.
If you still need assistance, You can reply to this message at any time.

Restart your computer and press F8 , choose Safe Mode and press ENTER. Windows XP attempts to start in Safe Mode, which does not automatically start programs and hardware, and displays very primitive graphics. If Windows XP starts successfully in Safe Mode, you can remove any programs or updates you have recently installed. Then, restart your computer normally.
If safe mode fails then you need to use a windows xp disk in order to repair your computer.
You don't have a CD/DVD RW? Yes you can create a bootable disk using this computer.
You will need a blank CD for this operation.
If you have problems with Windows Media Player you can easily install a codec pack ..
I use K-lite Codec (Media player Classic ).Click here to download the app .
This is a free player ..(can play any video format you want ...e.q .avi ,.mpeg,.flv ...)
The application will reset your video players to default.
Navigate to this page ..http://www.free-codecs.com/k_lite_codec_...
Copy/paste this link ->http://ftp.freenet.de/pub/filepilot/fpt/...
Into your browser

Hi, Thanks for replying. I am actually on another computer at the moment. How do I get the other one to start up before I do anything else. Can you tell me what to do if I get the safemode option, safe mode with prompts, last known good configuration, normally. etc. Thanks, Darryl.
Thanks, I will give it a go! Can I create a bootable disk with this other computer that works, even though it is windows xp home and the broken one is windows xp professional,? And by the way we don't have a disk for either of them.
I couldn't get it to start in safe mode but I have got it working in debugging mode . It is asking me to change the screen resolution to 12something to 10something it came on the screen so fast that I didn't quite catch it. How do I adjust that? Everything is bigger!
It just froze and went to the blue screen again.
Hi again, it bounced back and I am swiftly uninstalling some recent downloads. VLC media player was the most recent it has been very good in the past, what do you think ? Windows media player has not worked in a long time so it is going to go. ( I tried updating but it failed in the past , we can't play dvd's with windows media player.) and some other windows update extras. I keep you informed of how I go . Thanks. Darryl.
I have purchased nero 9 and it won't play some of the childrens dvd's from another region, Vlc media player played almost anything, Windows media player has not been able to play any thing for a long time. I have been told by friends that windows media player can cause conflict with other media players like Itunes, nero etc. I don't know the facts but if it doesn't work I may as well remove it which I have. What do you recommend for a free media player or have you suggestions for nero 9 which I have paid for? What is a codec pack and could it be part of my problem? Thanks again for all of your time.
Thanks, I will jump back on to the other computer to see if I can download it , so far the other computer is running ok, I will keep you informed. About the bootable disk that you suggested that I burn, is it as good as an original window xp and do you need a rewritable disk or is a normal one fine? Is the cd format the best to use? Thanks again, Darryl. Soon I will go back and click on accept this solution.
Hi, I am on the computer that was broken, I clicked on the link that you suggested but I don't know what to click on to download the media player; there are ads about registry fixes and other things and a write up about k-lite but no clear download point.

Thank you very much for your time and patience. There are a lot of things that I would not even dream of doing but with a bit of support and encouragement from experts I am willing to have a go. Many thanks once again for bailing me out of trouble. Darryl.
I am back on the spare computer now. I think I found it on the file forum page, ie. the download of k-lite.
That was what you call a garden path, it was only an update, all the options I seem to click on lead you to another product.
Is that the avs video converter download?
Thanks for your help, I am going to call it a night now and I will return tomorrow. I am sorry but you will have to spell it out to me because when I click download all the files or programs I have tried have a different name, none have K-lite written in the file name at all.
Hi, Just a note to let you know. Our computer that crashed with the blue screen, could not be saved on safe mode. I took it to a friend of ours who has a windows xp disk, he tried to fix it without wiping the system! He found a problem code but did not know what it was, so he googled it. It was a bad update from our security software and they suggested to uninstall which he could not do because it required a mouse operation not keyboard controls and our computer would not cooperate; so he saved everything he could and wiped the system. I think he had to connect to his computer, I am not sure but it is fixed now. The update that was the problem, was causing the cpu to run at 100% and nothing else could move so it froze. Thank you for your help. The computer would not co operate with us. It has been going good for about 3 weeks now with only a couple of hiccups. Thanks again. Darryl
