Ford Escort 1.6Gl Automatic '78 starter

Good day,

I have replaced the brushes, bushes & bendix as well as the solonoid. The car started without problems after the solonoid & brushes was replaced & the had trouble starting thus I replaced the bendix, but now it doesn't even make a sound, we did test for power & there is no problem with the supply of power to the starter. What could be the problem?

The starter does not connect with the flywheel when I turn on the key its like its missing the w Flywheel

Does your solonoid kick in? Check this while turning the key over. Listen for a loud click in the engine compartment indicating that the solonoid is engaging. 1. If it's not engaging, check: Battery. Relay on solenoid and ignition key switch. Located behind the ignition keyway. If the solenoid do kick in, check brushes, bushes, armature and bendix. And if starter is firmly tigrtened.

Have 2006 chevy 3500. 6.0 litre new battery 16 days ago even after installing new battery seems to have trouble starting like a ground prob. Was told prob starter bushings. It is a dump truck that gets...

Being started that many times per day, chances are that bushings are worn as are all the internal components. You could rebuild it but to do that correctly likely the parts would cost you more than a completely rebuilt unit. A good rebuild includes new end bushings, brushes, solenoid and bendix drive. The only original parts should be the housing, field coils and armature. The symptoms you posted sound more like a worn brush or solenoid internal contact. When testing voltages, your radio and lights are not a really good indicator of battery condition or charging system operation. Always use a good volt or multi-meter to do testing.

1995 ford escort- starter cranks all the time

Check voltage at trigger wire going to the solenoid. There should not be any voltage there except when the key is in start positon...if there is the ignition switch may be bad.

Puma wont crank.

Lights dimming a good clue, that means that there is power going to the solonoid but starter moter wont turn. Check all battery connections and starter connections Make sure battery has enough power to turn starter or try jumper cablea.
Sometimes the starter gets jambed up due to poor lube on the bendix. try hitting the housing with a hammer. You can take the starter out and bench rebuild or just replace it its not a hard job,
