I have a Frigidaire FRS26R4CWE both the Freezer (30 degrees) and Refigerator (41 degrees)were not cold enough. This a spare basement refrigerator that we use once in while. There was no ice in the bin....

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

When you removed the freezer you should have seen a even frost pattern across the cooling coils.

If you have ice at the top especially in the upper right have corner, then you either have a restriction or a refrigerant leak. In the upper right hand corner you have a very small tube with a inside diameter the size of a small needle. It is not uncommon on older units for this tube to become plugged up or leak.

A repair of this nature by a service technician would be about $550.00 USD.

If there is ice built up on back inside freezer wall, you have a defrost problem. Either defrost heater, defrost thermostat, or defrost control (timer or Board) is bad.

Our Amana frig temperature is approximately 60 degrees with the lower freezer under 32 degrees. The unit is running constant. Any repair solutions would be appreciated.

Check and see if the fan is running in the freezer. If not may be bad or frozen. If is running check and see if there is any frost in the freezer if the fan is in the back then check the back wall of the freezer. If yes the it is not defrosting . Thaw it out for 24 hours and it will work for a week or so but it will need either a defrost timer, heater or thermostat.

my refrigerator goes into auto defrost every 60hrs for 45 minutes or till the bi metal(defrost thermostat) says it had enough....recently i had ice built up on the coil because my defrost thermostat was stuck open...

ice builds up because the moisture that comes from opening the door or food condenses on the cold coil...tempurature of the coil is below 32 degrees which will ice up the condensed moisture...

defrost is timed to remove this build up

The refrigerator temperature ins 50 and the freezer is 15. Is this the appropriate temperature? The butter is soft at this temperature

the fridge should not be above 40 degrees and the freezer not above 30. check back wall of freezer for frost. if so, coils are iced up and need to be defrosted. either take off back wall of freezer and melt ice with warm water or hair dryer, or unplug unit and let it set with doors open for a day. then clean up the water.

We have an Admiral top freezer refrigerator. Freezer is working refrigerator is running at 60 degrees.

If there is no ice on the back wall of the freezer, make sure the freezer fan motor is running. If there is ice on the back wall of the freezer repair the defrost components. Timer,heater,thermostat.

Kenmore fridge and freezer not cooling

Check to see if there is any ice built up on the back wall of the freezer. If so thaw the ice and take the back wall out of the freezer. next check to see if the fan is running in the freezer (evaporator fan) This fan is what circulates the air from the freezer to the fridge. If it does run then you have a defrost problem (if ice is on the coils and back wall). Then replace defrost timer, heater, and thermostat.
