Printer HP LasrJet 1100 doesn't work with driver for XP sp2 (error printing message). Driver was downloaded from HP site. Should I use an additional software ? Thanks in advance for your help !

Did the Ox50 error have any additional information with it or happen only with network printing?

Frequently, this error is associated with a font being sent to the printer with the PCL 6 (printer control language). The temporary fix is to turn the printer off and then on (to clear its memory).

Next try going to the Printing preferences by right clicking on the printer in the Printers control panel. (For XP, click Start > Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. In Win7, click Start > Devices and Printers (or Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > View Devices and Printers). Then right click on the LaserJet CM1312 icon and select the Printing Preferences. Go to the Advanced tab and change the Print Data Optimization option from Advanced to Optimize for Text and Vector.

If this doesn't work, uninstall the printer (right click again). Then reinstall the network printer using the PCL 5 universal printer driver. If the printer is connected to one computer via a USB connection and then that computer is the printer server for the others, you may need to disconnect USB cable and uninstall both the universal print driver and the regular printer driver. Then reinstall them in the opposite order.

1st: turn off your printer, wait 5 minutes, turn on again. Try to print again and see if the problem is solved. If this doesn't work:
2nd: de-install your printer from your computer, download the latest driver for your operating system, install your printer again. And if this doesn't work, download the latest HP Laserjet generic driver and install it again.
You can find the drivers on the support page from HP, searching for the model printer that you have and select the driver for your operating system (windows xp, vista, 7..)

Access the manufacturer's web-site: http://support.hp.com
Enter the model-number for your HP printer, and do the search.
Select "downloads".
Select "device-driver".
Select your Operating System (Mac? Windows Vista?)
Download the device-driver.
Install the device-driver.
Connect the printer, when prompted to connect it.
Print a test-page.

You are going to need SP2 to run many applications, doing system restore to before SP2 setup will make SP2 unusable.

If you can install, the printer on a different plug. Uninstall and re-install drivers as suggested on other post, afterward connect printer to new port, drivers will work differently.

You can also try this:

Disconnect printer.

Remove drivers

Uninstall sp2

restart pc

re install SP2

Download and install latest drivers

connect printer

In this way there are less chanches for driver interfeering with sp2. Use last driver version, older drivers may not work well on sp2.

Hi, Are you trying to send a print job to the printer ? Does the printer lights blink when you send a job ? Or are you just getting a pop up message on the pc?
