Multiple IE,internet explorer windows are popping up when ever i try to open a webpage

Hi, I have windowsXP, & for a long time I get multiple IE windows popping up whenever I try to open a web-pagefrom IE. This happens even after I formatted the Hard Drive and did a clean install of the Operating System. Is this a virus or a syware? Any idea or resolution, which I cold try. The surprising part is that even after doing a clean install of the OS , it still did not help. Kindly suggest a resolution & as it is really irritating.

If you're open to other IE substitutes, you can try Mozilla Firefox. You can download it from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/. Firefox is very good in blocking pop-ups.

If IE is still your choice, you can upgrade it to IE 7, which can be found at:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx

Internet explorer finds a problem with the web ppage and wont open the game the rooms are there but wont let me into them i have updated my flash player and adobe reader etc

Try This:

How to Reset Internet Explorer settings
By resetting Internet Explorer settings, you return it to the state it was in when it was first installed on your computer. This is useful for troubleshooting problems that might be caused by settings that were changed after installation. When you restore Internet Explorer's default settings, some webpages that rely on previously stored cookies, form data, passwords, or previously installed browser add-ons might not work correctly. Resetting Internet Explorer to its default settings does not delete your favourites, feeds, and a few other personalized settings. See the table below for a complete list of all settings and information about whether they are reset or maintained.

Resetting Internet Explorer's settings is not reversible. After a reset, all previous settings are lost and cannot be recovered. Rather than resetting everything, you might want to reset specific settings or delete your webpage history.
To reset Internet Explorer settings use the following procedure
You need to make sure you have Closed any Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer windows that are currently open.
Open Internet Explorer and Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
1.png Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset.
2.png In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.
3.png When Internet Explorer finishes restoring the settings, click Close, and then click OK.Close Internet Explorer.
Your changes will take effect the next time you open Internet Explorer.

Why does Bing keep popping up when I want to get into my hotmail account and preventing access to my hotmail ?

Because Bing is too often implemented as an intrusive and annoying facility.
Many Bing-enabled webpages seem to be coded such that just mousing over any number of common words and phrases pops up unwanted and unneeded Bing boxes relating to those words and phrases, blocking what you are currently trying to read.
The people who design these pages apparently believe this is a wonderful and helpful new way for websites to work. I'm not one of them, and user experiences like yours are the reason for my opinion.
The solution is block the Bing website:
Step by step:
1) Open the IE options.
This can be done by using the Tools menu within IE and selecting “Internet Options”, by right-clicking on the IE icon on your desktop or Start menu and selecting “Internet Options”, or by launching “Internet Options” from inside the Windows Control Panel.
2) From the IE Options window, select the Security tab
3) From within the security tab, click on the “Restricted sites” icon and then click the [Sites] button right below it.
4) A list box window will pop up. In the “Add this website to the zone:” filed type in *.intellitxt.com then click the [Add] button.
5) Close Internet Explorer. The next time you open Internet Explorer the change takes place.

1st: can't open gmail w ie; 2nd ie keeps shutting down

Hi, It seems that you might have installed some addons for IE and now you are in the situation. All you need to do it open Internet Options from Control Panel. Then in Advanced tab, click on Reset. Resetting Internet Explorer resets all settings to manufactures' default and in the process you will lose all saved passwords on Internet Explorer and you will have to re-enter them again upon use. Once done, fire-up IE and click on Tools menu > Internet Options and reset IE from Advanced tab once again from here as well. It means you will reset IE two times, first from Control Panel and then from IE window itself. Once done try to use IE and see the result.
However there are few addons available with Mozilla Firefox that resembles IE inside and opens all webpages that requires IE only. Download Coral IE Tab from: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10909
Installed the addons and switch the view to IE to open all webpages that supports IE only.
Cheers!

Why do I have to press control in IE 8 to Select a link

The reason for this maybe that you have turned the POP UP BLOCKER ON or there are multiple pop up blockers installed, like one on yahoo tool bar, another on google tool bar and IE's own filters.

When you like to click on a link that a pop up blocker thinks its a pop up link, you have to press control key while clicking on it to open it.

Changing your preferences or security level for filters might solve the problem
