OK! Be relaxed! You should act carefully to get back your wanted data back:
1. Do not format this drive in case that the formatting process makes things worse.
2. Do not save anything new on this drive till you've restore all data back successfully.
3. Download a free external hard drive data recovery program to take chances. Since your data is still on this drive, you do have chances to get it back with the help of a data recovery program. So, what you should do now is to select a proper data recovery program for your drive data.
Read more detailed information of some drive data recovery freeware here:

http://www.geeksdo.com/freeware/data-recovery.html

4. Do not save or back up all the restored data on the same drive in case of data recovery failure.
Note: I hope you can learn a lesson to back up everything new in the future.

Is it an external HDD or internal?

In either case if it is formatted you can recover data by softwares like Recuva and Recover my files.

The files recovered are not in the same organized manner nor with same name

It is better if you try to plug it in to a different system/laptop

Since the HDD has rejected easy repair by the most appropriate tools, I recommend you recover the data and replace the drive. I've been through this many times for clients.

You did all the right things.

I just purchased a 320 gig hard drive and when i set a partition it only shows 132 gig

Use the WD data life guard disc to partition the drive. Put the disc in, reboot the computer, and run data life guard. A screen comes up and asks if your system can recognize a partition greater than 137 gb. If your system can read larger than 137, then use the option to format one large partition.

Some OS cannot read larger than 137gb. Also some Bios have the same problem.

Can't load a 13 gig avi file onto wd drive with 90 gigs free

Typically this is because there aren't large enough fragments to load. Run defrag several times and try again. You might also run the cleanup program and remove any temporary files, temporary internet files and anything in your waste basket before you run defrag.

Please let me know how this turns out.

Lost all memory on hard drive

Once it's gone, it's gone.
You can try loading the firmware update from Philips website, but this is unlikely to resolve.

Philips HDD – Reloading the Firmware Hack

1. Plug your GoGear HDD into the computer
2. From ‘My Computer’ right click the GoGear drive and format it. Be SURE you format it as FAT32 and quick compression is not on
3. Create 3 folders on the newly formatted disk called: ‘_System’ , ‘Data’ , ‘Media’
3. Download fom Philips the latest Device Manager for your kind of player
4. Install the Device Manager
5. On the Desktop, right click the Philips Device Manager shortcut, then Properties, then open file location.
6. Copy the folders you see there into the ‘Data’ folder
7. Copy the Firmware.ebn file into the ‘_System’ folder
8. Unplug the device and now it should run fine

Duel boot system first xp then vista

Wow....

First I would check the BIOS settings. Make sure that the slave and master jumpers are correct on the drives.

Wouldn't it be easier to make one drive Windows XP on one drive while running Vista on the other?

It would make things easier to troubleshoot.
