I have bought a second remote control craftsman 315 918191 i have remote device install with my crafftsman door opener there is no learn buttom on either device what can i do thank you

Have your neighbor bring over his remote and open or close your door with it. Then hold the smart/learn button in for 6 seconds on your opener. Then see if he can open your door. He shouldn't be able to because that procedure erases the memory in your opener. No remotes should work. You need to get that remote #53778 back and program it and then see if your neighbor can open your door. If he can open your door at any point after you have held that button in for 6 seconds you need to get a new door opener.

Plug the appliance control into a 120 Volt outlet.

Press and release the "learn" button on the appliance control. The learn indicator light will glow for 30 seconds.

Within 30 seconds press and hold the button on the hand-held remote.

Release the remote control push button. Code setting is now complete.

Press and hold for 3 seconds the button on the wall control that has an icon of a lock. The light should quit blinking and your remotes will once again work. Holding that button for 3 seconds toggles your openers vacation mode.

Look at the LED light next to the SMART/LEARN button on rear of the motor unit. You may need to remove a light lens cover in order to see it. If the light is flashing rapidly this means you have a stuck button on one of your remote controls. Take the batteries out of each remote control. When you remove the batteries from the bad remote, the light will stop flashing. This remote needs to be replaced.


If one of your neighbors remote controls is inadvertently programmed into your receiver, you door will open when their remote is activated. If this happens you will need to clear out your receiver and reprogram your remote controls. Press and hold the smart/learn button for 6 seconds or until you see the small LED light near the button turn itself off. If the above steps have been followed and the symptoms continue, there may be an electronic short in either the wall control button or the receiver logic board. In this case, remove the wall control wires from terminals 1 and 2 on the motor unit. Should the symptoms persist after the wires are removed, replace the receiver logic board. If the symptoms stop with the wall control wires removed from the motor unit, replace the wall control button, and the wires leading to the wall control button.

On the rear of the g. door opener, there is a learn buttom.

The first step is to push this button in.

Then go to the remote and enter the new code you want

Press and hold the enter button.

The lights will blink and or you will hear two clicks.

The code you entered should be learned and ready to use

With the garage door closed, press the large button on the remote. While that is pressed, press the "learn" button (ours is red) on the back of the opener unit. The indicator light on the panel will begin to blink and the opener light will flash once. At that point, release all buttons, and try out your remote!

You should be able to program your garage door remote after reading this!

I will be talking about Liftmaster and Craftsman garage door openers. The Chamberlain Corporation makes Craftsman, Chamberlain, and Sears Craftsman garage door openers. Whether you have a chain drive, a screw drive, or, a belt drive opener, they all program the same. There is a "learn" button on the machine that holds the information from the remote control. The learn button may be located on the side of the opener but, most models have them on the rear of the machine. How you can locate the button easily is to find where all of the wires are running into the machine. The learn button is usually square, but, it can be round. The colors of the buttons can be white, yellow, green, red, or the new frequency is purple.
Look at the photo above and you can see the square (red) button located on the left side of the "Logic board". The logic board is the computer that tells the opener whatto do and when to do it. It is also usually the first thing that lightening will hit in a thunder storm. I basically is a radio frequency receiver that picks up electrically transmitted signals. Lightening is an electrical signal, and a very powerful one. The little wire on the bottom right side of the logic board is the receivers antenna. DO NOT CUT IT OFF! I have have been to houses that the homeowners complained about the remote control only working when they get really close to the door. When you cut the wire you alter the frequency of the remote control, and have to replace the logic board. The logic board can cost anywhere from 85.00 up to 100.00 depending on your area. Oh, the prices i just quoted didn't include labor.
Now, for the programing part you have been waiting for. Hold down the square or round learn button that is on your opener for about 20 seconds. This clears any other remote controls that may have been in the machine. NOTE: If you loose your remote control, or, if you are going thru a divorce, you need the clear the opener so that unwanted people can no longer have access to your house. Another tip..... when you go to have your car serviced make sure you keep your remote control with you!
The reason i say this, is not because i am saying car dealerships or repairmen are crooks, but, there are exceptions to every rule. When you go to get your vehicle repaired you give the people your name, address, and your remote control. I know of one problem where a customer dropped off her Mercedes to be worked on and the mechanic had her address, and took her remote control, and went to her house that night and stole her car. Just stick it into your pocket until you get your car back.
Ok, once cleared, you take each remote control, and go to the back of the opener where the learn button is. Hold the remote control button down, and push and release the learn button. You should hear a click, and the lights on the machine may come on for a split second. When this happens, the remote control is programmed. Continue this process until all remotes are programmed. Note: The opener will only hold five remote controls, or, four remote controls and one keyless entry.

How does everything look well? How old is unit? Did you push learn button for 10 seconds. Then pusj for 1 second and activate a remote button. lightbulb on motor should blink. if so, hit learn again for 1 second and push button on other remote. Do you have a LOCK or VACATION button. Make sure it is off . Is light on wall console blinking. you have remotes locked out.

hit learn button for 10 seconds. now nothing will work except wired buttons. Hit learn for 1 second and put in yur 4 digit keypad code and hit enter, light on motor will blink twice. hit learn again for 1 second and push button on remote. again bulb will blink. continue pushing learn for 1 second and adding another remote.

Yeh, it is called reading the manual. Push and hold LEARN or SMART button for 10 seconds, Release, Push for 1 second and enter keypad code and ENTER, Kight bulbs should blink. Hit learn again for a second and push a button on a remote. Repeat for all remotes.

hello - we have a craftsman model 139.53684 and these are the instructions for setting the personal entry code - (you will need two people doing this) To set the code using the Premium control console: 1 Enter a four digit personal ID # of your choice on the keypad then press and hold ENTER. 2 While holding the ENTER button, press and hold the LIGHT button on the premium control console (the premium control console is the main opener button mounted in the garage probably near your door) 3 Continue holding the ENTER and LIGHT buttons while you press the pushbar on the premium control console (now all theses buttons are held) 4 When the motor units lights blink Release buttons - it has learned the new code. If bulbs are not installed you will hear two clicks. To set the code using the 'LEARN' button (you will need a ladder & two people doing this) you used the learn button to set the new remote. 1 press and release the learn button on the motor. The learn indicator light will glow steadily for 30 seconds 2 within 30 seconds enter a four digit personal ID number of your choice ob the keypad then press and hold the ENTER button 3 Release the button when the motor unit lights blink If bulbs are not installed you will hear two clicks.
