I have a ryobi pressure washer with the honda gcv 190 and it wont start i got fuel and spark and the switch is on it just dont want to start

Is this a brand new unit or one that you've had awhile? If one you've owned awhile, when is the last time you used it? Did you use a fuel stabilizer or drain the tank and let the engine run until it stalled?

One thing you might try would be to remove the spark plug and give a little spray of carb cleaner in to the plug hole, then reinstall the plug and try to start it. If there's just not enough vacuum to get fuel to the cylinder, getting the engine to fire off the cleaner may provide enough oomph to get the engine started and running.

Honda Pressure Washer won't start

Blue smoke is def oil burning so I would guess that is the ain cause of the non running. It is possible that oil has got into the carb and jet . Turn fuel off and unscrew the slightly off set 10mm bolt on the bottom of the carb bowl to drain the fuel. If oil came out with the fuel then you should undo the other 10mm bolt and remove the bowl. Spray some carb cleaner around the floet and jet and also up the post that the bowl was fixed to as the jet is up there. Also, remove spark plug and pull over a few time to get rid of anything in the cylinder. Refit all back together and try again (don't forget to turn fuel back on).If it tarts it may run smokey for a few minutes while any oil residue burns off.

I cannot get my honda 2500psi pressure washer to start at all i have changed spark plug and do have spark it has good gas in it and plenty of oil but will not start?

Three things needed for engine to run. Fresh fuel, good spark and good compression. I am assuming that water supply is disconnected for now and that you feel good resistance when you pull the rope indicating that there is compession. For now remove/unplug the low oil alert wire (if your model has one). Use carburator cleaner as fuel for now by spraying fuel directly into carb with air filter removed and choke off (do not flood just spray a little then little more if needed, the engine will only begin to run then stop unless you contine to spray fuel). If the engine does not respond most likely timing belt or plastic cam is cause. GCV series honda engines use timing belt with plastic cam gear. Gx series use metal gear. If the engine responds clean carb. Good luck

Hi my name is Garry, My Karcher pressure washer is not getting gas and won't start. If I pour gas directly down the carburetor it will start. What could this be I replaced the spark plug and cleaned...

Hi Gary,
Looking at your owners manual I see this is a Honda GCV 160 engine. (owners manual)

Download this carb check sheet and follow the steps:

You have debris in the main orfice jet or tube. These are removed from the threaded area of the float bowl nut with a screwdriver that fits EXACTLY into the brass slots of the orifice and after orifice removal the main fuel tube. IF you damage these during removal i..e you use the wrong screwdriver or damage the thread slots you can end up having to change the carb. Just make sure the screw driver engages the orifice and fuel tube slots fully.

After cleaning the main fuel orifice and fuel tube check fuel flow into he float bowl. It should fill a spray paint can lid in around 10 seconds. If you do not have this kind of fuel flow.. investigate from the float needle back to the fuel tank outlet for restricions.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

My almost new Honda GCV 160 engine will not start.

Hi , I think you need someone to remind you these engins are not made by god and they work by obeying three simple rules ,
1.Spark , Can you see a very good blue spark
2.compression,,can you feel strong compression ,
3.fuel , is the right amount of fuel getting in , is the air mixture good ,

Now try these things

Find the manual and PROPPER set the gap in the spark plug ,
clean and check the air filter ,
remove all fuel and replace with brand new,
check the fuel filter, even in the tank tap?
undo the screw at the carb bowl , can you see petrol leaking ,

If everything checks out then try this to get it started,,

spray "easystart" in the carb , bypassing the air filter ,
if it wants to start but cant for long then its a carb problem
check float hight , float needle, jets and pins ,too much air getting in

find someone thats good on motorbikes , They like me know all the tricks to get things to start ,
