PT-53WX53G still shutting off-3 blinks

have you checked the 2.2 ohm 2watt resistors? If the led blinks three times the resistors will almost always have at least one that will be blown and need replacement.

Looking for resistor value on Toshiba PB7243 Power convergence PCB Resistor is R7731 part of bias for convergence IC I think.. but looks burnt

R7711, R7721,
R7116, R7726, R7736, and R7731. are MF, 1.2 ohm, 2W resistors--MF means metal film or metal oxide--check all of them if you are replacing the two STK-392-110 CHIPS---

They are protect resistors in case some part of either chip shorts--if even one is bad--you need to replace both chips at the same time and adjust.

If you need help or advice let me know--I am here to help.

If this information helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

Detailed problem per your response

The problem is that the ICs may have been blown because the resistors were bad. Just as a double check before you replace anything else. Please confirm that the STKs are STK392-110. Also, replaceing them with STK392-150 is a valid upgrade, I'm not sure about the 180s, but I'll check. Both the STKs and the resistors need to be changed at the same time.

The hour glass view you reported: Was the bowing on the top and bottom or on the sides?

Thanks,
Dan

Continued convergance issue.

I have heard from a few people that the higher value IC (150, 180, etc) do handle more current, but also that they *draw* more current, as well. Taking a guess, it may be simply that the 180s you installed were pulling too much juice from the resistors, which is why they popped. These ICs were used in many TVs, so it may be that the Panasonic doesn't have as much tolerance for the 180s' power requirements as, say a Hitachi.

Luckily, resistors are pretty cheap, so it's probably worth the few bucks to replace the resistors when you drop in the 110s you have in hand.

Failed resistor

those are the convergence feed resistors. # blinks on a panasonic means convergence IC failure. You will need to replace the two stk392-110 convergence ICs and the six resistors. You can get replacement ICs and resistors at the following link.

Yes you can get replacement IC STK392-110 convergence ICs at the following link and they provide free instalation instructions with pictures. The Ics are located on the board on the left side attached to a large heatsink. You will need to replace both ICs heres the link.
