If this is a brand new macbook and you have not been familiar with them before....be aware that the whole touchpad is clickable by pressing it down. You can also go into your settings, under the mouse applet and choose to enable the tap to click rather than pressing the button.

Toshiba laptop touch pad click not working

Its possible that "tapping" is off, as yo udont adentify a model or anything its hard to be accurate, normally goto mouse settings , find synaptic touchad tab and then check the detailed settings, you will find a tapping feature.

My touch pad works with a mouse, but when I tap my touch pad nothing happen's,thats when I lef click my mouse,it will move the icon, but wont tap on toanything

This has happened to me and it took me hours to figure it out. I hope yours is the same problem...
Make sure you dont have your touch pad set to off. On my ASUS It is F9 on my keyboard. the key shows an icon of the touch pad with a slash (/) through it. If you do not see this on your keyboard try looking in control panel and see if there is a setting in there. Good Luck. Please let me know if this worked.

When typing on hp netbook, the cursor moves around to another part of the sentence, deletes what i've typed...any thoughts on fixing this?

You need to disable the tapping while typing option in your touch pad because your thumb sometimes touches the touch pad which is causing it to move around to another part of the sentence.

When i am typing the cursor will suddenly move to the middle of what i have already typed , it is driving me potty and i have to keep re typing things , is there anyway to stop this? sunshine

I was experiencing this problem before, and I figured out I was tapping the touch pad with the palm of my hand. I had to download a driver for my touch pad and adjust the sensitivity of the touch pad.

Cursor moves but when i tap it nothing happens?

Down on your task bar on the right there is a little screen that shows a green circle when you move your cursor. This is the Synaptics Pointing Device. Place your cursor over that and click your left 'mouse' button (just below where you tap). You will see 'tap to click'. If you click on that it will change it to your 'tap' function. That should solve your problem, hopefully. Hope this helps.

Brand new Dell 1545, XP pro SP3

I faced the same problem with my laptop and the fault was with the power adapter. I noticed that the cursor moved randomally only when the power adapter was plugged in. I got the adapter replaced and it is working fine since then.
