We have just received a new toshiba 32BV500B LCD tv. We did the initial installation but after the analogue channel scan the digital channels have disappeared and we cant find a way to get them back. How do we get the digital channels back? There' no set up menu, only installation which doesn't give an option for automatic search. Thanks, maria

Have you done a channel scan? This can take a few minutes but it locates and lists all channels If you've not done this already, go into your menu, channels and be sure to enter the receiving input whether it's antenna,cable, or satellite, start your scan and see what channels you're receiving. I would have thought you could just select a different source from the remote. Can't you do that? Usually press the source button a few times to go through the different options on the screen.Need to select the analogue tv through the antenna or else digital tv through the set top box I guess so you would need to select the right source where the box is connected..
Did you do the initial set up and let it auto tune all the analogue channels when you first plugged it in.
I found this in the online manual but the preset button is one of the 3 menu items you can't select so you may not be able to follow this instruction any way.---------------------------------------------------5.Air/Cable selection

Saw someone else make a comment that they got the tv new and it had a vchip blocked when they first got it out of the box and lots of channels were locked off and took him 2 hours to figure out how to unlock it from the menu. Didn't say how he did it unfortunately.

Do a retune to this TV.

Press MENU button on the remote control and select
Install and Retune by using Left or Right button.
Press OK button and the following menu screen
will be displayed

Select Automatic Channel Scan (Retune) by using
Up or Down button and press OK button. Automatic
Channel Scan options will be displayed. You can select
options by using Up or Down and OK buttons.

Auto Channel Scan Menu Operation
Digital: Searches and stores aerial DVB stations.
Analogue: Searches and stores analogue stations.
Full: Searches and stores both analogue and aerial
DVB stations.

Whenever you select an automatic search type and
press OK button, a confi rmation screen will appear
on the screen. To start installation process, select
Yes, to cancel select No by using Left or Right
and OK button.

After auto channel scan type is set and selected
and confi rmed, installation process will start and
progress bar will move along. Press MENU button
to cancel process. In such a case, located channels
are not stored. The television will start to search for
all available stations. You must allow the television
to complete the search.

Thei Orion model Tv is not equipped with a digital tuner inside. There is only an analogue tuner fitted and only analogue channels can be received by this set. To get digital channels, you have to buy one settop box, which can convert digital signals to analogue signals. In short, a Digital to Analogue Converter should be bought, if you want to get digital channels. OK.

Before tuning the set to auto tune mode, make sure the antenna or cable, whatever may, connected to its appropriate sockets at the back of the set firmly. To make it autotune:

As new services are broadcast, it will be necessary to

re-tune the television in order to view them.

Auto Tuning will completely re-tune the television

and can be used to update the channel list. It is

recommended that Auto Tuning is run periodically to
ensure that all new services are added. All current

channels and settings, i.e. locked channels, will be
lost.

[1] Select the SETUP from the main menu by using

Up or Down buttons. Press OK and Setup menu
will be displayed.

[2] Select the Installation from the Setup menu

by using Up or Down buttons. Press OK and
Installation menu will be displayed.

]3] Select Automatic Channel Scan from the Installation

menu by using Up or Down buttons and press OK.

A screen will appear warning that previous digital

programmes and settings will be deleted. Select Yes

if you have a cable box just plug the cable box into a scart socket on the tv, switch the tv to the scart input and use the cable remote to change channel?Scanning for channels wont find anything because you are receiving the channels on a cable box. If you are refering to standard or digital tv signals and your not receiving any channels then either you are only scanning analogue tv and therefore wont pick up any digital tv channels, or your ariel is inadequate to receive an acceptable digital reception and will need to be upgraded. please state country you are in and what you are expecting to receive

I had this problem and searched the internet for hours looking for an answer and was given the initial same reply as this and it does not work. To solve this problem all you simply need to do is press source button on the controller followed by pressing the DTV/USB option. All your digital channels will come back to you and you will find the menu setup options you are looking for!!!

When installing the tv channels, the system must search for analogue and digital channels. It sounds as though it didn't complete the installation procedure.
Let it try again.

Are you using the freeview tuner, I only ask as it looks like your having a similar problem that I had a few months back. I moved into a new house and plugged in the tv. Using the freeview tuner I wasnt able to get any channels. It turned out although the aerial picked up regular analogue tv it wasnt the correct aerial for freeview.

in order to solve the complect of channel/ choose one / if tv is digital in line w/dvd is digital.
If your your recorder is analogue choose use analogue channel.
