Hello, I just bought a pair of m-audio bx8a monitor speakers. I want to use them for a synthesizer. I'm looking for images of the cables needed and how to proceed to connect as I know nothing about it. I know I can use trs or xlr cables. Can I go right from the synthesizer to the monitors? I have a preamp if needed, but how to connect? Thanks for any help.

You need an amp to drive the speakers. Preferred method = Synth -> Mixer ->Amp -> spkrs

Hi i have a set of bx8a and one of them when it is on the woofer pumps out uncontrollable even when no music is playing please help

If the woofer is motor boating....going in and out, like a flutter,
likely a power supply issue on the power amp board, in back of the speaker. This would need to be repaired. Since these are powered speakers, if for example, a power supply capacitor were bad,
it can do that. If under warrantee, find an authorized repair center near you. Contact manufacturer.
Hope this helps.

I have recently purchased a set of M-Audio Studiophile BX8a Deluxe studio monitors. I can't register them for warranty because I can't find any serial number on the monitors or box that they came...

Call M-Audio and ask them about it... It is POSSIBLE that your speakers are counterfeit. It has been happening with high value audio equipment. There has been some failures of this product as well. Also contact the company you bought them from. There is a lot of grey market stuff on Ebay... I hope that wasn't your source.

I have a pair of m-audio bx8a deluxe monitor speakers. I need to know how hook my iPhone up to them or just one of them. I tried using a adaptor and plugging into the trs input but the music is distorted....

The conection you made is not quite right. This is because the TRS (and the XLR) connectors at the back of the BX8a are for balanced signal. You have to use either this cable or connect both middle and ground point of the TRS connector at the ground. In other words the ground from the ipod must be connected with ground AND middle ring of both BX8a and the ring of the ipod must be connected with on BX8a TPS tip and the tip of the ipod must be connected with the other BX8a tip. I don't know if you are familiar with soldering connectors, in this case post me back to make a schematic for you with the connections.

In case of a problem or clarification or further details needed, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.

I have a Sceptre X7G Komodo II 17" LCD monitor/built-in speakers

You would need to connect the speakers to your computer. There should be a little jack on the back of the monitor marked audio. This will need to be connected to your soundcard jack for front speakers. Once this cable is connected you should have sound from your speakers. Hope this helps.

M-audio Bx8a's one monitor very low volume compared to other.

NO, I HAVE HAD TWO PAIRS OF THESE SPEAKERS. tHE SECOND PAIR I HAD FOR TWO WEEKS AND SAME PROBLEM, EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT SIDE GOES OUT.

I Insert a compressor on the stereo buss to protect the speakers from transients and they just loose the woofer everytime.

They cannot be trusted, DONT WAISTE YOUR MONEY.

Woofer not working on new bx8a speaker

Hi ermo

Your new speakers are BiAmped, and if a woofer is not working then it is probably a fault in the amp or connection for that woofer, or the the woofer itself has a problem. If they are brand new, I suggest you take it back to purchase point to get sorted out. There is nothing that you can do that will NOT void your warranty. If you do not have a warranty, then get back to me here and we can work through the problem. Cheers

Hook up pair Bx8a to pc

XLR? not true. gold plated, balanced trs cables have a better sound and actually compliments the bx8's technology. that said, you can get cable that is trs-balanced on one end and rca's on the other. then just get a "Y" right-left rca into a stereo 1.5 cable. easy and cheap. but using xlr's for output? NO. save those for your input MIDI instruments and controllers.

Connect BX8A speaker to PC

Hello waddragon,

First, let's start with the BX8a. Those are powered speakers (built-in amplifier in each) so, you do not need a pre-amp. What you need to connect them to your computer is a 3.5mm to XLR cable OR a 3.5mm to 1/4" TRS cable, also known as 3.5mm to two 1/4" mono plugs (the back of the BX8a has inputs that accept either type). Cables are available at most any electronics stores. Make sure you buy a long enough cable to run from the back of the computer to where the speakers will be.
It sounds that you only have one BX8a which means you'll be listening to only one channel of the stereo output. In any case, make sure before connecting the speaker(s) to the computer that speaker power is off and volume control is at minimum. Connect the 3.5mm cable end to Line Out 1 jack of the X-Fi sound card and either the XLT or TRS ends to the speaker(s) input(s). Play some audio content on your computer, turn on speaker(s) and slowly increase volume to a safe level. Everything should work fine.
Let me know how it goes.
