I have been given a ProView CY 765 flat screen monitor. How do I power it up? My only experience of computer kit that needs to be powered up, is by some sort of mains lead. I can see nothing like a two pin nor a three pin socket.

Usually the pin looks like a lap top power adapter cord and the slots are on the back side it could be a standard power cord that looks like a computer cord as well. It is there check the sides out as well look all over it is there. Look between where the stands upper mount underneath that area.

Please place a vote for me if I assisted you thanks for using FixYa! That monitor is your monitor picture. John

ProView 19" Flat Screen Monitor comes on with

Hello,

The dark or black picture is caused by a failure in the back light power supply. The problem can be corrected by replacing a few parts called capacitors on the board. Replacing them will require a little soldering but anyone can do it. Here is a link to a page that shows what needs to be replaced.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

I have been given a working flat screen monitor - ProView CY765. I see that there are two phono sockets named DC In and Audio. Does this monitor use DC power? Where does it get its supply...

I doubt that you have a DC in that is in the shape of a rca connector. go to the web site that represents that proview device and try to get the manaul. don't plug any power into that jack until you are sure, and why would you want to run it on battery anyway.

I managed to solve the same problem by replacing the six 470uf 25v capacitors. I have notice that the old ones has a bulging top.

Same problem, and solution 1 given here fixed my Proview 900W. A few of the 470uF caps on the power board were oozing dielectric probably due to overheating. Hopefully the replacements will hang in there for a couple more years...

Pl916s proview 19 inch flat screen moniter

Hi, I, too, was given one of these monitors. Using a flashlight shine it at an angle to the screen and see if you see a computer screen showing under the beam of the flashlight. If you see a picture then the backlight or its circuit is not working. Check to see that the 4 cables going to the LCD display are plugged in all of the way. There are plugs on each of the cables with 2 wires to each plug.
